NEW CARS TO BE IN STREET SERVICE SOON Delivery of Both Regular and Trackless Types Will Be Made. Installation of wires and poles is being pushed by officials of the Indianapolis Railways. Inc., in order to place in service before Christmas a part of the new equipment, recently ordered. The company expects delivery of a large number of the eighty trackless trolleys and fifty modem street cars within a few weeks. Trackless trolleys will replace street, cars on, the following lifies: Northwestern, Pennsylvania. Columbia, Brightwood. Brookside, English. Prospect, South East, West Indianapolis West Tenth West Michigan, East Tenth and Indiana. Wire to Cost $375,4HH> Cost of construction of the necessary overhead wires for the new service is estimated at more than $375,000 by company officials. Work has progressed rapidly during this month on Northwestern, West Tenth. West Michigan, East Tenth. Prospect and West Indianapolis lines. More than fifty new employes have been placed on this work. To date, 646 new steel poles have replaced the old iron type Bases for three hundred additional poles also have been installed and a large number of feet of new span wire and cable has been replaced, consisting of 133 miles of trolley wire, 21,000 trolley ears and hangers, more than 233,000 pounds of weatherproof cable. 106 miles of span wire and 20,000 insulators. Pershing avenue, between Morris and Reisner streets. One hundred and fifty men have passed the company’s test following instructions in operation of the new' trackless trolleys, which on arrival immediately will be placed in service.

VOTING URGED ON CITY-OWNED WATER-PLANT Federation of Civic Clubs Sponsors Petition for Election. A campaign for municipal ownership of the Indianapolis Water Company will be developed today by the utilities subcommittee of the Indianapolis Federation of Community Civic Clubs. The committee composed of William Bosson, attorney, chairman; Edw'ard Snethen and Oscar Smith will meet to discuss methods for circulating a petition calling for a special election of voters. This action comes as a result of favorable sentiment concerning municipal ownership shown at recent meetings of the Indianapolis Federation and the North Side Federation of Clubs. Sherman Minton, public counselor for the public service commission, fired the spark for the movement w'hen he described utility conditions throughout the state at a meeting of the Indianapolis federation.
