'REBOUND'WILL BE STAGED AT CIVIC THEATER Lilith Baur, Walter Pfaff Are Headliners in Shaw’s Cast. "Rpbound. ’ the Civic Theater s second production of the current season, which at the Playhouse tomorrow night, is a play in which each member of the cast has an equal opportunity to display his particular talent. Lilith Baur and Walter PfafT. who became so popular as a comedy team with their portrayal of Laura and Augustus Merrick in “The Vinegar Tree ' last season, head the cast. Mrs. Baur, as Mrs. JafTrey, very firmly and very patiently knows everything; and Mr. PfafT, fortunately cast, has, in the role of Mr. JafTrey, a charming and sympathetic characterization, far removed from his recent role of Herman Glogauer in Once in a Lifetime." Martha Pittenger Has Role Although playing husband and wife, they never appear on the stage simultaneously, for Mr. JafTrey many years previous left his impossible w’ife and went to Europe where he hasn't been quite sober for twenty years. Martha Pittenger, who appeared as “Sister Joanna of the Cross" in “The Cradle Song" last season, has the leading role of Sara JafTrey, a restless, modern girl being driven into a marriage by her overzealous mother. Harold B Tharp Is making his second appearance with the theater in this production as Lyman Patterson, the very wealthy and .successful head of a Wall Street banking house. Mr. Tharp played Max Lawrence in "The Vinegar Tree” last year. Elsinore Punk is cast, in the role created by Katherine Leslie on the stage nnd Myma in the motion picture version "of the play— Evie Lawrence, an attractive, slowmoving individual, sure of herself and her hold over men. Grnlendiek in Cast Dick Grotendick, who appeared as I Kruger in "The Front Page" last | season, plays the role of Les Craw- j ford, Liz Crawford’s husband, a pleasant, but not particularly exciting person. Adrian Reiter who was seen in “As Husbands 00" plays Pierre, a French hall porter. Other members of the cast, all of j whom made their debuts with the civic in "Once In a Lifetime," include: Mary Jane Alspach as Liz Crawford, Sara's older sister; James vLarmore as Bill Truesdale, the great lover; Lionel Wiggam as Johnnie! Coles, a careless, irresponsible person with whom Sara is in love; Rita Conors as Marta, the Crawfords’ j maid, and Delmas McConnell as Jules, a French waiter. Nov. 21.—Scientists throughout the world sought today to locate the origin of a violent earthquake which last night vibrated seismographs in widely scattered places. The quake was of violent inten- J sity, described by scientists at GOll- I zales observatory. Victoria, B C.. as comparing in intensity with the quake that devastated the city of Yokahoma.
