B v I hitf<l Pr< * WASHINGTON, Nov. 14—The government today raised its price on newly mined American gold to $33.56 an ounce from yesterday's $33 45 level. The price was an overnight advance of 11 cents an ounce. Today's Washington price was 3 cents above the world price set in London today. The London price today was 128 shillings 7 pence, off pence from yesterday. On the basis of the early high exchange rate for the pound sterling <ss 21 1 v? *, this was equivalent to $33 53 a gne ounce. The dollar, in gold, was worth 6159 cents as compared with 61.79 cents yesterday. By f nit• and Prrt* LONDON, Nov. 14—The American dollar, continuing its new decline, opened today at anew postwar record low price. The pound sterling was $5.18%. It opened yesterday at $5.13 4 and closed at $5.14' 2 . The previous low' for the dollar was So le 1 -, touched last Friday. The French franc opened today at 81 t h. It opened yesterday at 81 9-16 and closed at 81 7 *. Today’s gold price was set at 128 shillings 7 pence, or $33.49 ! 2 at the rate then prevailing. This was 6'< pence or 14 cents under yesterday's price. There was a premium of 6 pence on the French franc, which was selling then at 82'. Undisclosed buyers acquired 129 gold bars worth $1,745,350. STATE PROBES BLOOMINGTON THEATER FIRE Feeney Sends Investigator to Study $150,000 Blaze. Investigation of the $150,000 Indiana theater fire at Bloomington last FYiday was launched today by the state fire marshal's office, it was announced by A1 Feeney, state safety director. Joseph Scherer, electrical inspector from the office of Clem Smith, head of the fire marshal's division of Mr. Feeney's office, has been assigned to the investigation. Mr. Smith said the local fire chief at Bloomington did not report any suspicion of incendiarism. The fire originated backstage when the theater was empty. It burned the building down and spread to neighboring stores. A fireman was injured and two women and a child in apartments in the block were forced to leap to safety.
