OCT. 30. 1933.1
The Crisis Hunger, sickness and fear, arch enemies of the city’s less fortunate, have rallied their forces to strike desperately and forcefully at the Indianapolis Community Fund campaign. Their attack Is like that of a killer—savagelike, brutal and cruel. Hundreds of tiny, Innocent, helpless babies, though they are too small to understand, will feel the effept of the blow. Old folks in homes for the aged—men and women who are too old and too feeble to work—will pray to God that somehow, some way, they will be spared. Crippled children who have been told that they will get well and who always have had a smile for the visiting nurse—the angel of mercy—as she came to aid them each day, will wonder if their only hope for recovery may be gone. Unemployed men and women, thousands of them—homeless and destitute—will dread the thought of an approaching winter and shudder at what it will mean. In thousands of Indianapolis homes, worried fathers, who can find no work, and heart-broken mothers who have striven hard to hold their families together will try desperately but hopelessly to fight back their mounting fear of what is to become of them. ' ~ The Community Fund campaign has reached the crisis. The breaking point has arrived. What about lfc> Indianapolis 7, What Is your answer?

/ % Possibly We’ve Overlooked You— But Please Don’t Overlook Him ! i /This Is Your Opportunity to Take Part In The Indianapolis Community Fund
Of'course we don’t want to slight a single person in the great Fourteenth Annual drive of the Community Fund. This is an ALL-Indianapolis activity and no one should be deprived of the thrill that comes of doing his or her loyal part. But in the routine of making nearly a hundred thousand contacts, it is possible that no one has directly invited YOU to participate. Please be assured that the slight is not intentional; that we need and ivant your support. Do not be embarrassed if conditions make it impossible for you to give as liberally as you would like. After all, it is the spirit of service, the eagerness to share with others less fortunate, that really counts. Your dollars—though they-may be few—will march side by side with the biggest gift in the city. And they will do proportionately just as much good. It is your priceless privilege now to aid helpless, homeless little children; dependent old folks; the sick and afflicted, and the deserving poor who have battled bravely through these troubled years. So here is a pledge form ready for your signature. Use it if you have not already made a contribution —or, if you wish to increase a pledge made earlier in the campaign. The need is great—the opportunity for service even greater. Thank you!
