HIGHWAY OILING WORK WILL END WITHIN week: Four New Pavements Are Opened in Last Few Days by State Board. Next week will see the finish of the state highway department’s i road oiling program for this season, according to the weekly traffic bulletin of the department. Four new pavements were opened ; during the week the bulletin shows. General road conditions were listed as follows: Road Oiling and Surface Treatment Road 45 From Bloomington to Monroe- ' Brow n County line. Finish Oct. 8. No detour. Road 48—From Greensburg to Columbus. Finish Oct. 12 No detour. Road 48- From Junction 148 to Manchester. Finish Oct. 8. Road 67 From two and one-halJ miles north of Spencer to Junction 39. Finish Oct. 8 No detour. Detours Due to Construction Road I—Bridge In Biuffton limited to ten-ton capacity, detour for heavy traffic only. Road S -Detour from 0 7 miles south of Vernon at Junction of Roads 7 and 3 to four miles south, account construction, is five and one-half miles over fair gravel i and stone. By United Preos TOPEKA, Kan., Oct. 6.—For the first time in the history of the 1 Kansas Free Fair here, a real beer garden was operated this year. And the establishment was right next to W. C. T. U. headquarters. Beer drinkers who thronged the garden seemed to get along well j with W. C. T. U. members. Bar maids even visited the dry organ- j ization’s booth, but so far as could be learned, no W. C. T. U. members returned the compliment.
