M'NUTT URGES SPEEDY PUBLIC WORKS ACTION Stream Pollution Elimination Deemed ‘Best Bet’ by Governor. All possible speed in pushing the proposed $70,000,000 federal aid public works program in Indiana local governmental units was urged by Governor Paul V McNutt Friday in a conference with Otto P. Deluse and A H Hinkle. Deluse is the chairman of the Indiana advisory board of the federal administration of public works and Hinkle is the engineer in charge of plans. McNutt particularly stressed the importance of expending $23,300,000 for sewage disposal plants, which will eliminate vast stream pollution as exposed recently by The Times. “Sewage disposal is our one best bet in getting public works started in local communities at on c e,” the Governor said “Under our moratorium law on local building of roads, the only chance I see for financing is to have the state-fed-eral funds used to get the 30 per cent the federal government has agreed to pay. We do not know yet whether this will be possible.” Deluse again expressed the opinion that stream pollution in Indiana is appalling. FREE WOMAN HELD AS FUGITIVE FROM HOME Institution Heads Consent to Release as Mate Aids Fight. Happiness came to Mrs. Helen' Bigelow Stodghill, 24. of 1048 West New York street, when Municipal Judge Dewey Meyers Friday dismissed charges against her of being a fugitive from justice. Charged with having escaped from an Institution for mental cases in Ft. Wayne, Mrs. Stodghill embraced her 21-vear-old husband as she was released in court today after the judge read letters from officials of the Institution giving their consent to letting her remain with Stodghill. The girl'3 mother told the police that her daughter never had been feeble-minded and had been sent to the home after a series of domestic troubles. ANNOUNCEMENTS 1 Death Notices COOLEY. LOCUU B.
