NRA CHEATERS LIST WILL GO TO WASHINGTON Handling of Alleged Violations of Blanket Code Still Vexing Question. Handling of alleged violations by Indiana industrialists who display the blue eagle and are accused by their employes of failing to live up to the terms of the nr a continues a vexing question. According to Francis Wells, Indiana recovery director, the only specific Instructions to come to him from Washington on this important phase of the national recovery act is an order to send all reported violations to the national recovery director at the capital. More than 200 violations have been reported to Well's office to date. Many of them concern large industries in the city and state. Most of the letters are signed by employes who request that their names be omitted in reports or publicity. Send in Violators* Names In an informal discussion of the violation phase of the national industrial recovery act in his office today, Wells said; •'This is a most delicate matter I believe eventually that the government will set up a bureau in Washington where the names of violators will be handled. Today, I received detailed instructions to send in names of all violators and details of alleged violations. From the reports which I will forward to Washington I carefully have deleted the names of employes and others making the complaints, regardless of whether secrecy was requested or not. Asked to Keep Pacts "Subject to change, I believe that violations will be handled something like this in the future First policing will be done locally by the force of several thousand volunteer workers, under direction of T. M. Overley of the Better Business Bureau. Overley will give his reports to me. I will forward the reports to Washington. Overlcys men politely will Invite the recalcitrant industrialist to conform with his signed agreement.** May Go to Grand Jury "If ihe alleged violator does no* conform, after persuasion by the local recovery officers, his case probably will he referred to the federal grand jury. The blue eagle is to be as sacred. I understand, as any other government emblem, and is to be so regarded. "Then, don't forget that the government has a licensing power. The lime may come when the government will license stores and nulustnes. This will lie comparatively easy under the interstate commerce act. "Nearly every firm buys some sort of equipment front another state, and if it doesn't, tstate government probably will co-operate with the federal government in enforcing terms of the covenant.*'

New Edifice Will Rise as Contribution to U. S. Prosperity Push. 'Continued Fmm Page One) the apprehension of spiritual ideas.’ ” • Science and Health with K”y to the Scriptures, page 583.) Just what great benefits that Christian Science brings to mankind is developed splendidly by Shimer. Brings Right Understanding "Christian Science,'* he says, "brings to mankind a right understanding of God as infinite Mind, Divine Principle, from which all reality proceeds and in which all r'cality consists. "It reveals man as God ever beholds him, the image and likeness ol Deity; therefore, capable of expressing every Godlike quality. It is to learn of those qualities and how to reflect them in daily living, in shop and factory and counting house, that men are to be saved from the consequences of their own ignorance of God and of the laws of harmony, health and prosperity. The fruits of right thinking ever are present in the city of Indianapolis. These rare accomplishments ever are a part of the advancement of the Christian Science Church. Fruits of Right Thinking "These natural fruits of right thinking are manifested in part by the Christian Science movement in Indianapolis, - ' shimer explains. "Scores of persons at the midweek services of thp five Christian Science Churches testify to health regained, courage renewed, supply replenished, limitations overcome through the better understanding of the Truth as taught in Christian Science." Out of these "natural fruits of right thinking." Indianapolis has been given three splendid church structures and a fourth one will soon b in process of construction. Plans have been drawn and approved for the building of a 5125.G00 church for the Fourth Church at Butler and Pleasant Run boulevard in Irvington. No extraordinary methods of raising money used, but all funds are raised by direct contributions. Many men will be put to woik in the near future as another step of the Christian Scientists' support of President Roosevelt's recovery’ program. Five Chiirehes in City In speaking of the Indianapolis churches, Shimer said: "The vitall tty and effectiveness of this Truth is symbolized in the three beautiful Christian Science Churches— First Church at Twentieth and Meridian streets; Second Church, at Twelfth and Delaware streets, and Third Church, at Thirty-fourth street and Washington boulevard. "In addition. Fourth Church, at present worshiping in the Masonic Temple, at East Washington street and Johnson avenue, ow ns unincumbered an attractive lot on Pleasant Run boulevard and has accepted plans for a building to be erected in the near future. "Fifth Church, the youngest of them all. holds its services at College avenue and Sixty-first street, and recently has purchased a lot at Sixty-second street and College avenue. In this way the "fruits of right thinking.” not only have beautified Indianapolis with lovely structures, but the future programs will enlarge the magnificent skyline of the city. Evidence of Growth In studying the evidence of growth of Christian Science, one : must leave local boundaries and extend them to national. "The evidence of the growth of Christian Science is world-wide." j Shimer states. "The latest Annual Report of The Mother Church. The First Church of Christ. Scientist, in Boston, shows that new churches and societies of this denomination are forming at the rate of one each four and one-half days.

“The demands for literature, published by The Christian Science Publishing Society in Boston, recently made anew building necessary. "It was not the purpose to erect such a building until later, but. in response to President Hoover’s urgent request that all those who could do so furnish work for the unemployed, construction was commenced in the fall of 1931. "This structure is nearing completion, with all funds in hand, although the cost is nearly $4,000,000. To this fund, the five local Christian Science churches contributed. as did Christian Science churches and societies throughout the world." In this way Christian Scientists, both as individuals and through their various organizations, axe serving their communities by example. In this great cavalcade of the churches of Indianapolis marching toward greater prosperity and happiness, the Christian Science churches are a splendid example. Mr. Shimer, in discussing that hearty co-operation, said: "Through the Christian Science Monitor, their daily newspaper, they are supporting President Roosevelt in his recovery program. "On July 25 the President's radio address on this subject, the Christian Science board of directors wired him as follows: 'We are happy to assure you of our wholehearted support and compliance with the administration's blanket agreement, in your earnest effort
SLASH IN CITY'S BUDGET LOOMS Valuation Drop to Force Reductions, Says Sullivan. Facing a $63,000,000 drop in valuation for tax assessments, the city of Indianapolis confronts the need for a further reduction in the city's budget of $700,000, Mayor Reginald H Sullivan learned Monday. Sullivan called a conference of Evans Woollen Jr., city controller: Walter C. Boetcher. works board president: A. B. Good of the school city: Charles Grossart, county auditor. and Albert Walsman. state tax board official, to discuss the situation. Tax valuation in the city last year totaled $556,000,000. and a drop of $63,000,000 is inevitable, Sullivan was informed. To keep the present tax rate of $126 the city, on this figure, must slash its budget by $700,000. Sullivan asserted that he was unable to see how the city can reduce its budget any further. He pointed to the $905,000 cut. effected last spring, and asserted that the city's budget has been whittled $1.400 000 in the last three years. Further conferences will be urgent, it appeared, with Sullivan taking the stand that the police and fire departments will be curtailed drastically if a further budget cut is made necessary.

TRAP KIDNAPER OF MILLIONAIRE AS HE SLEEPS Leader of Kansas Prison Break, Five Others in Abduction Held. Burl uiffd Prri DALLAS. Tex.. Aug. 15.—His machine gun powerless against the ingenuity of department of justice agents. Harvey Bailey, leader of the Memorial day Kansas prison break, was held here today as a kidnaper of Charles Urschel and a participant in the Kansas City Union Station massacre. Fingerprints of Urschel. the Oklahoma City oil man for whose freerom relatives paid $190,000, were found on the windows and dishes at the farmhouse where Bailey was captured. Some of the marked $lO and S2O bills in which the ransom was paid also were found. Agents said three of half a dozen persons arrested with Bailey have confessed taking part in the Oklahoma City abduction. A dozen officers captured Bailey Saturday, but did not reveal the fact
until today In an effort to trap additional members of the band. Gus A. Jones. San Antonio agent, and three other federal men. accompanied by Ft Worth and Dallas officers, swooped down on an isolated farmhouse, near Paradise. Tex., eightv-five miles northeast of here, after days of watching. Bailey was sleeping fully clothed on a cot in the backyard just at the rear of the house. A few feet away was an eight-cylinder automobile with the key in the ignition lock and door open. At his right was a sub-machine gun. At his left was a loaded automatic rifle Beneath his pillow was an automatic pistol. He had no chance to use any of them as the raiders swooped in before dawn. “Ail right. Harvey, it's all up." said Jones. The 45-year-old gangster awoke to find a machine gun muzzle in front of his mouth. "Oh. hell, guess you got me all right." he muttered and made no resistance. In the house, the agents arrested R. G. Shannon, his wife Oras. their son. Arman Shannor- and his wife Oleta. and Earl Brown, father of Oleta. All are said to b? related to Bailey by marriage. Some were released later.
