Tournament play will begin Monday with the first eighteen holes of the thirty-six-hole qualifying round Qualifications will be completed with a similar round Tuesday. The thirty-two low scorers will be matched in the championship flight and two eighteen-hole rounds on Wednesday will reduce the field of championship contenders to eight. Every game sees Johnny coming up with one or more spectacular catches after long runs. In the night tilt Thursday Cooney had six putouts and two assists and in the twilight game his record was six putouts. He threw runners out at first, on a double play, and at third Thursday night. Johnny also is keeping his batting average above the .300 mark.
