FARM UNIT OF U, S, GETS CUT IN 1934 FUNDS Agriculture Department Will Have 37 Per Cent Less in 1934. /' i flrirnl'f Srr ire WASHINGTON. July 28 —Economy curtailments of congressional appropriations by the budget bureau have reduced the money available for the United Sta*es department of agriculture to S6O 000,000 or 3i per cent less than in the 1932 fiscal year. This will force the separation from the pay roll of about a thousand persons. “00 to 800 of whom will be dismissed and about 350 of whom will be furloughed. This \is cut. under the 1954 appropriating to about $13,000,000 and this sum. in turn, has been slashed bybudget bureau cuts to about sll - 000000, or $6 000.000. less than the 1932 figure Reductions of ordinary activities of the department account for a reduction of nearly $11,000,000 below the amount appropriated bv congress for 1334 and nearly $26.000.000 below' the amount appropriated for 1932 The expenditures for ordinary’ activities in 1934 will be $42 794 618 Reductions of 25 p-r cent in payments to the states for experiment stations and extension service arc included in the withheld funds, although it was understood that this provision of the recent Roosevelt reorganization order might not be pip into effect. The payments to states for experiment stations, extension work, co-operative forest
