Manners and Morals BY JANE JORDAN
If mo hve had an eyerinre hlrh you think will h# helpful to the rfadfri of the column, tend it In for publicMion! Dear Jane Jordan —I am a young divorcee and every man I have had a date with brings up the same question. "Will you?" When you argue against it. they say you are old-fashioned, and won’t make any more dates. If you can give me any help on whether you should or should not, I will be very grateful. ONE IN DOUBT, answer—l’m going to let “Sunny” onivvT* you from an experience of her own. Dear Jane Jordan—l’m 28 and I've traveled since I was 17 alone. Naturally I wasn't always able to date men I’d known all my life. Some didn't act
so nice, but you know one can’t always scream. Once when things were getting pretty desperate, I somehow said something about cause and effect,. The man immediately was Interested and relaxed. We began to talk of what

Railroad Man calls filth. It didn't make animals of either of us. Quite the opposite. In a few seconds, my companion had changed from a passion-rid-den "do or die" person to a quiet curious, and interested conversationalist, and remained that way the rest of the evening. Since then I've used conversation as a weapon against actions. It always has worked, except once, and he really was filthy minded. SUNNY. Answer—l have asked many young men why they apparently had only one goal in mind w'hen calling on a young lady. They assure me that this is not the case except in instances where the young lady had no other appeal. Asa rule, women aren’t interested in the pursuits of men and some have nothing to talk about except themselves.

A girl with a wealth of ideas at her command seldom has any trouble in keeping her callers diverted, but where she has nothing but her sensual appeal to interest them, necking is in order. As Sunny says, there are men with only one song to sing. The only thing to do with them is to give them the air. u m u Dear Jane Jordan—l am a girl of 18 and care a lot for a fellow of 21. When I first met him he respected me and was decent. The last date I had with him he had been drinking, although he doesn't make a habit of it. He then told me if he was the right fellow and I really cared. I would surrender. He said that either I didn't love him or he was the wrong one. and that I acted like a kid of 14 having her first date. I don't, know how I feel about him now. Pleas® tell me what, to do when he comes back. I would like to hear what some other fellows think. WHAT TO DO. Answer—l think I would ignore the incident. If he behaves properly wh®n he is sob®r, enjoy his company and avoid him when he drinks. Dear Jane Jordan —I am going with a girl, but I am in love with her very close friend. I don't know how to change over to the other girl without splitting their friendship. What is your advice? C. A. B. Answer—No friendship can succeed which is based on pretense. If you want to be tactful, let some time elapse after you have broken away from the first girl before you begin to call on the second. ana Dear Jane Jordan—Last summer I fell very much in love with a girl. I always treated her with the highest respect and took her every place I could think of. After about seven months, she said she couldn't go steady any more, so we quit. It has been a year now and I still care a lot about her. She is a- Catholic and I am a Protestant. I think her father i split us up. I think I will go to another city to try to forget her. Do you think
I should try’ to forget or live in hooe that I will get her back some day? R. C. Answer—l don't believe I'd want a young lady whose affection was displayed so easily. Just now she has the lure of the unobtainable. There probably are several others who would do just as well or better. Get out and circulate. A change of place is no guarantee of a change of emotion. a a a Dear Jane Jordan—l have been going with a boy of 17 for almost a year, but we just can't get along. A few' days ago we had a fuss and he told me to go with other fellows. but I can’t, because I love him too much. What shall I do? I love him so! BROKEN-HEARTED. Answer advice. How do you know you can t, until you try? Aids to Coolness One or two electric fanr, placed in the rooms you use most, will do much to make your home more comfortable in the summer. The kinds which oscillate are. of course, best. Point them up toward the ceiling so the air can circulate and yet will not blow directly on any one. Never sleep with a fan blowing on the bed.
