C. E, EHLERS IS NAMED HEAD OF CITY HOTEL Receivership on Washington Dissolved: Corporation Takes It Over. C. E. Ehlern, who began hia career In Indianapolis twelve years ago, has been named general manager of the Hotel Washington, Inc., a newly organized corporation which has taken over the hotel property at 54 East Washington street. The receivership of the hotel has been dissolved by court order. The hotel, containing 300 guest rooms is a sixteen story brick fireproof structure. In a statement concerning plans of the new corporation, Ehlers said: “We are decidedly optimistic over the business prospects of the next few years and expect to share in the general return to prosperity.” PROMOTE STATE COP AFTER ONE IS FIRED Donald Franklin Succeeds Dean Manuel as Sergeant. Patrolman Donald Franklin of the state police has been promoted to the sergeantcy made vacant by fir- j ing Sergeant Dean Manuel, Jack-'j sonville. Manuel was ousted on a 1 disorderly conduct charge. Attempt of Pleas Greenlee, McNutt secretary in charge of per- j sonnel, to put Manuel on the federal j pay roll at the reforestation camp I at Spring Mill state park failed, it ! was reported today. Beer for Fair? Attorney-General Will Be Asked for Ruling on Exposition Brew.
BRTNG in beer and throw out the shell games. That is the new program adopted by the state fair board at its meeting Thursday. Secretary E. J. Barker was instructed to ask the attorney-gen-eral whether it will be o. k. for the board to sell beer at the fairgrounds during fair week. Sept. 2-9. The board took a stand against all shell games. They also banned the baby shows upon recommendation of the newly organized state health department. Pure nickel, used in coins in twenty-three countries, is more difficult to counterfeit than coppernickel.
