Average of ten Industrials 85.77. up .15. BY ELMER C. WALZER United Tress Financial Editor NEW YORK. June 10.—Blistering heat in the midwest brought a strong rally in wheat Friday and set off buying in stocks. Wheat soared more than 2 cents a bushel over the previous close. Other grains made corresponding gains. Cotton rose $1 a bale. Other commodities improved. In addition to the heat, incentive was furnished by another decline in the American dollar. Radio Starts Rally The opening trading was featured by declines in Postal Telegraph issues and Western Union issues on the stock and bond markets, induced by elimination by the house conference of the rider in the railroad hill paving the way for a merger of the companies. Postal preferred touched 26'i, ofT 9’. points. Western Union 55, of! 4% and their bonds off 1 to 7 points. These stocks recovered from the lows. Indications that congress would adjourn shortly also was a stimulant. The rally started in Radio Corporation stock, which came out in bocks of 1,000 to 12,000 shares. Case Shoots Up Commonwealth & Southern sold at 5 on a block of 65,000 shares. Later it made anew 1933 top. In the last few minutes of trading J. I. Case shot up to anew 1933 high at 85' 2 , up 9% points from the previous close. Other farm equipments, including International Harvester, Advance Rumcly and Oliver Farm Equipment, made new 1933 highs. American Telephone crossed its previous 1933 high of 123%. Utilities generally were strong. Tobaccos were strong and active, American B and Liggett B making new highs on wide gains. Traders anticipated an early advance in cigaret prices. Oils reached new highs, featured by Standard of New Jersey.

HOT WEATHER SENDS FUTURE PRICESHIGHER Oats Leads Grain Upturn on General Damage Reports. BY HAROLD E. RAINVILLE United Press Staff Correspondent CHICAGO, June 10. Grains turned strong on the Board of Trade Friday as temperatures again rose in the southwest. Oats led the upturn, showing exceptional strength on general damage reports; all deliveries rising to the highest levels since December, 1931. Wheat was strong on the weather in the southwest, but corn took its ! strength primarily from oats, makj ing good gains. All grains were up more than a cent near the close in a more active market. Shorts covered for the government report due after the close. Close Is Higher At the close wheat was 17s to 2 cents higher, corn IV4 to lys cents higher, oats 1% to 2 cents higher, rye Vs to % cent higher and barley IV: to 1% cents higher. Provisions were firm. Local sentiment was very much mixed. There were no rains of any proportions in the winter wheat belt overnight and the forecast indicated higher temperatures for Kansas and continued warm elsewhere. Bulges met selling, but declines were easily recovered. Liverpool continued to decline to offset rising sterling exchanges but was only Vs American money. Cash prices were to % cent lower at the close, in Vs to l cent higher. Receipts were 3 cars. Corn Tone Firm Despite heavy selling most of the morning on the favorable weather, corn displayed a firm tone and was Ut to % cent higher at mid-session. Strength in oats was a factor. Illinois planting now is 65 per cent complete compared with 97 per cent normally and about 30 per cent two weeks ago. This emphasized the rapid planting under favorable weather. Cash prices were to 1 cent higher. Receipts were 300 cars. The independent strength in oats that put September and December at new highs for the season early, 1 to Hi cent higher than the previous close, was due to additional reports of heat damage to the growing crop. Northern Illinois reports the worst conditions in 16 years. Rye was % to Va cent higher at midmorning. Cash oats was 3 i to 1 cent higher. Receipts were forty-two cars.
