I wife, Rena, was admitted to his cell here. They embraced. Mrs. Mooney | sobbed. Tears rolled down the j prisoner’s cheeks. He gently patted j her on the back. • It's all right,’’ he said, softly. Mrs. Mooney wa* arrested with her husband srd four others in the i bombing case. She was acquitted after a trial on charges of first degree murder. She now lives alon" in a large ■ house here, supporting herself as a : music teacher, and by work for ! Mooney’s Defense League, j Penitentiary rules forbidding ■ Mooney to talk to newspapermen j were lifted in the county jail. Thursday night, however, he declared he ; had nothing to say. Monday he will sgain sit in the s prisoner’s dock, on trial for the asj serted murder of one of the victims of the 1916 explosion. It will be only an echo of a highly controversial case. Prosecutor Matthew Brady nas in the past urged that Mooney be pardoned. He contends he has no evidence. His aids, he said, will make 1 no attempt to obtain a conviction. The acquittal—observers believed no other verdict possible in view of the prosecutor's attitude—will not free Mooney. He must return to San Quentin on the original conviction
