WOMAN CASHIER ! HELD UP i51.473 SEIZED IN BANK Walkerton, Ind., Invaded by Gang: Machine Gun in Auto. B,u T iiit> 'i Pri >s WALKERTON. Ind.. May 18 Bandits invaded the Walkerton bank today, held up Mrs. Vera Williams, cashier, and escaped with 51.473. They drove south on highway 23 land then turned west on 30. where the trail was lost. Witnesses differed over number and sex of the bandits. Mrs. Williams said there were five, tail men. She said three came in j the bank, one stood guard at the door and another waited in the car. ; A machine gun protruded from the rear seat of the car, but no shots were fired. A traveling salesman who followed the car for some distance said he thought there were at least six members of the gang and that two either were women or were dressed like women. One customer, Andrew Hulting, was in the bank when it was robbed. He and Mrs. Williams were forced | to hold up their hands while the i bandits ransacked the cash drawers and counters. The Walkerton bank is a branch of the Farmers State bank of Wyatt, Paving Resolution Adopted Works board Wednesday adopted a resolution for the paving of Central avenue between Thirty-fourth and Thirty-eighth streets.
