BRYAN DOUBTS G. 0. P. 'USES' SCHOOL PRESS Bulletins and Programs for Both Parties Printed. Says President. Doubt that the Indiana University Press was being used as a publishing company for the Indiana Republican Editorial association was expressed today by President William Lowe Bryan. He was queried regarding an Indianapolis Times story relating the incident “I'll look into it but my understanding is that the UniversityPress has printed bulletins and programs for both Democratic and Republicans.'' Dr. Bryan said. In The Times story, Wednesday, the supervisor of the college printshop. C. E. Van Valer, admitted that programs for the G. O. P. banquet of editors given for Ogden Mills, former treasury secretary, had been printed at I. U “We've done the same things for Democrats." Van Valer said. Wray Fleming, president of the Indiana Democratic Editorial association. denied that the school ever had printed programs or bulletins without cost for editors of his political faith. Dr. Bryan, when Fleming's statement was pointed out, said, ‘Tve always had confidence in the word of the superviser.” Van Valer is listed in the handbook of the Republican state committee as a Bloomington publisher. The I. U. Press is listed as a Republican paper. In the programs of the April meeting of the G. O. P. editors the university director of the Press is listed as publisher of the Gas City Journal. He owns an interest in the Journal, a Republican organ. The newest British military flying boats are expected to be the fastest such boats ever built.
