LIGHTNING HITS AYRES' STORE Tile and Bricks Torn Loose: Infant Affected by Bolt, Is Fear. Tile and bricks were torn loose and hurled into an alley by a lightning bolt that struck the southwest corner of L. S. Ayres Cos. annex south of Washington street on Meridian street this morning. Falling bricks broke three windows in the William B. Burford Printing Company plant adjoining. The police emergency squad was called to the home of Mrs. Ruth Handlon, 108 South Oriental street, who said her fi-weeks-old son had stiffened and lapsed into a semicoma when he saw- the brilliant flash which accompanied the bolt. His crib was placed near a window. The infant was sent to city hospital for observation. PAIR. IN PRISON, SEEK TO PROVE INNOCENCE Jasper Bank Officials Summoned Before Clemenry Board. Officials of the German American bank at Jasper have been summoned to appear before the state clemency board next Monday in an attempt to untangle the case of two men now serving prison sentences for bank robbery. Identification by these officials resulted in the conviction of Clint Brooks and Monie Crist for robbery of the bank in 1930. Since that time death-bed confessions of two Dayton <O.) bandits included the Jasper bank robbery, and Brooks has the testimony of John M. Hollenbeck, Illinois parole agent, that Brooks was at his home at Mattoqn, 111., the day the robbery w r as committed. Clemency board members also have invited the prosecutor and judge to come to the hearing Monday and aid in further identifications. ANNOUNCEMENTS 1 Death Notices BECK.
