NATIONAL HEAD OF RED MEN TO BE GUEST HERE Class of 100 Candidates Will Be Initiated in Honor of Wachter. The Red Men and Pocahontas of Indiana will entertain Worthington p. Wachter of Hagerstown. Md., great incohonee, at a two-day session Friday and Saturday A formal dinner wil be given in his honor by t’ne Pocahontas at 6 Friday in the Columbia Club. State officers of Red Men and the Pocahontas have been invited. Following the dinner Wachter will be escorted to the wigwam at Capitol avenue and North streets, where degree work will be a feature of the entertainment. The class to be initiated will be known as the “great incohonee” class, and great chiefs of the great council of Indiana, Degree of Pocahontas, will act as team officers. 100 Candidates Expected The cast will include Lucy Cuskaden of St. Paul, great Pocahontas, Lizzie Brownlee of Terre Haute, great Winona; Nellie Jeffries of South great Minnehaha; Louise Hale of Indianapolis, and L. Cherry Ross of New Palestine. One hundred candidates are expected for the class. Following the degree work, Wachter will speak. Saturday, great chiefs of the Red Men will escort Wachter to Con- j nersville where, as the guest of the j Red Men, he will inspect a proposed | site for a home for the aged mem- j bers of the order. LODGE NAMES STATE LEADERS Royal Neighbors Elect City Woman as Oracle of Organization. During the annual meeting of the Royal Neighbors of America, at the Denison here Wednesday, Mrs. Cora Jackson of Indianapolis was elected state oracle, to succeed Mrs. Ethel Snider of Frankfort. Mrs. Carrie Martin of Crawfordsville was elected recorder-receiver m the only other elective office. Othei officers are appointive. Delegates named to attend the supreme camp meeting of the order to be held in June included: Mrs. Mary Fisher, East Chicago; Mrs. Lu Dell Jaggers, Plymouth; Mrs. Florence Emmons, Elkhart; Mrs. Hazel Shaw, Ridgeville; Mrs. Irma Klinger, Indianapolis; Mrs. Georgia Wallace, Terre Haute; Mrs. Lizzie McClain, Kentland; Mrs. Mabel Hunsucker, Fayetteville; Mrs. Susan Story, Sullivan, and Mrs. Hester Pinkstaff, Vincennes. During the session fancy drills were given by teams from Crawfordsville, Ft. Wayne and Anderson, and memorial services were given for Mrs. Icye D. Schaffer, former state supervisor, and othei members who died last year. Terre Haute was selected as the convention city for 1937. Mrs. Snider presided and Mrs. Fannie B. Volz of Indianapolis, past state oracle, delivered the address of welcome. Mrs. Bessie Hayden of Lowell, national auditor, responded.

MELTERS WILL CONFERDEGREE Six Ben-Hur Courts to Send Delegates to Meeting Here. Delegates from six courts of the Ben-Hur Life Association have been invited to attend a meeting of Arries Court, No. 5, at the hall, 322 East New York street, Wednesday night at 6. The melters degree will be conferred. Courts from Marion, Kokomo, Crawfordsville, Terre Haute, Muncie and Richmond will be represented. The dinner will be for members of the order and will be prepared by local women members. Mrs. Gladys Mills is chairman of the committee on arrangements for the banquet, and will have charge of the dinner. Mrs. Hazel B. Baker is chairman of the serving committee. Initiatory services will start at 8. and the melters degree, fun degree of the Ben Hur, given annually at each of the larger Ben-Bur courts throughout Indiana, will be conferred on approximately fifty members. The work will be given by the state melters degree team. A small charge will be made for the dinner. Funds will be used to help defray the expense of transporting the local court’s drill team to the annual Ben-Hur State Congress in Elkhart, May 19 to 21. MASONIC MINSTREL REHEARSALS HELD Show to Be Given Friday and Saturday Nights. Final rehearsal for the Masonic minstrel show to be presented by Monument lodge, No. 657, F. and A. M„ Friday and Saturday nights at 8:15 in the Masonic Temple. North and Illinois streets, will be held Thursday night in the Murat. Proceeds of the show will be turned over to the Indiana Masonic Home at Franklin. Approximately 100 persons will participate in the show. Rehearsals have been in progress since the first of the year under the direction of Eph Levin, past master of Monument ledge. Following the final performance Saturday night, a ball will be given in the Egyptian Ballroom of the temple, for members of the cast and those attending either of the performances.
Dishwashers Ben-Hur Men Volunteer to Take Over Task After Dinner.
WHO'S going to wash the dishes? That dreaded question which always arises before or after a banquet appeared before members of Arries Court, No. 5, Ben-Hur Life Association, at a recent meeting. They w r ere discussing plans for a dinner to be given in the hall, 322 East New York street, preceding the conferring of the melters degree, fun degree of the order, on a group of candidates, Wednesday night. J. W. Patterson, chief of fche court, said that "if the women atre good enough to prepare and serve the meal, as they have volunteered. I'll take it upon myself to wash the dishes alone, if necessary.” Ciifford Pittsman. keeper of the outer gate, not to be outdone by his chief, then volunteered his services and completed the twoman dish-washing committee. REHEARSAL IS "SLATED Center Masonic Lodge Will Convene Tonight at Temple. Center lodge, No. 23, Free and Accepted Masons, will hold a craft rehearsal tonight at 7:30 in the Mascmc temple, North and Illinois street. STATE FARLEY PLANSMAPPED Annual State Meeting of Knights Templars to Be Held Here. The seventy-ninth annual conclave of the Grand Commandery of Indiana, Knights Templar, will be held in Indianapolis, May 10 and 11, according to an announcement made by John T. Boyd, Vincennes, grand commander. The general orders governing the session have been sent out by the grand secretary, William H. Swintz, and a full representation of the ;ocal commanderies throughout the* state is being provided for. The presence of drill teams and other organizations, however, will be omitted. The first business of the session will be the meetings of the commandery committees, regularly assigned, Wednesday afternoon, May 10, in the Masonic Temple, North and Illinois streets. Reports will be prepared for the opeing of the annual conclave w hich will come Thursday morning. At this time, the business in hand will be transacted and the election of officers will follow’. There will be a party Thursday night in the Masonic temple, for grand commandery officers and their ladies, distinguished national guests, delegates and ladies, with dancing and other entertainment, provided under the auspices of Raper and De Molay commanderies of Indianapolis.
