Set'vices in City Churches Sunday
Early Easter morning soon after the sun rises above the house tops, great ships of the air will sail over Fort Benjamin Harrison outlining “A Cross in the Air” above "The Living Cross,” which the soldiers will form on the grass below at 7:45 a. m. This beautiful scene will herald the opening of the first outdoor Easter service at the fort. "The Living Cross,” which will be composed of 800, provides to be the most spectacular portrayal of the Resurrection ever given in the whole middle west. An added feature will be the reception of "The Living Cross,” by the members of Raper Commandery No. 1, Knights Templar, under the direction of J. Lewis Bray, commander of Indianapolis. The Knights Templar will be in full Templar uniform and will add greatly to the beauty and spiritual significance of this occasion. The service proper begins promptly at 8 a. m„ and will be on the air over WFBM for exactly one hour. A vocal and instrumental musical program has been arranged. The Eleventh infantry band will play a number of selections under direction of Warant Officer F. A. Bowen. Professor Franklin Taylor of the Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music of Indianapolis will conduct the combined men and women glee clubs of Butler university. This is the first time that these organizations have sung together. Mrs. Carl Withner, dramatic soprano from the Irvington Methodist Episcopal church of Indianapolis, will sing Grunier’s “Hosanna.” The Easter message will be given by the post chaplain, Major Alfred C. Oliver Jr., who is known nationally as the past national chaplain of Veterans of Foreign Wars and past national chaplain of Sojourners. a tt a ALL-DAY SERVICES ANNOUNCED A special Easter communion service will be held at First Evangelical church, comer of New York and East streets, at 6 o'clock Easter morning. This has been a custom of long standing in this church and this service is always attended by a large congregation. Following the Sunday school at 9:30 a. m-. the pastor will preach a special Easter sermon on “The Resurrection” at 10:40. A large class of new members will be received at this service, climaxing the personal work efforts of the church during a six weeks lenten crusade. CHURCH REVIVES OLDJDUSTOMS Early Morning Service Is Planned at Second Moravian. Sunday morning at 5:30 at the Second Moravian Episcopal church an Easter sunrise service will be held. According to the old Moravian custom, this service will witness the uniting of the Easter morning litany, expressive of our common Christian faith. The Moravian church held its first Easter sunrise service in America in 1743 at Bethlehem, Pa. This year will mark the 201st consecu- j tive Easter dawn service. Egg Hunt Is Easter Event at Sunnyside Mrs. Alva Cradick, president of the Children's Sunshine Club of Sunnyside and Mrs. W. J. RESCUE MISSION PLANS PROGRAM The Rev. John Yokel Will Speak Before Breakfast Club Here. The Breakfast Club program at the Wheeler City Rescue Mission, 245 North Delaware street, will be sponsored by the Minute Men's division of the Edgewocd M. E. church Sunday morning, from 8 to J, according to an announcement by the Rev. Herbert E. Eberhardt, superintendent of the mission. The Rev John Yokel will deliver the principal Easter messagt. Music will be provided by Miss Katherine Duncan and Miss Marguerite Sawyer, duet solo; the Boys' quartet. composed of Klenn and Albert Charpie. Francis Dankelman and Glenn Johnson, and a duet number by Miss Merle Johnson and Mrs. R. S. Boyd and the Edgewood LI. E. Sunday school orchestra. The Rev. M. O. Robbins is pastor of the Edgewood M. E. church. H. R. Pierson is superintendent. M. D. Shutters is teacher of the Minute Men's class. Approximately 175 men living in the mission dormitory will the service, which will be followed by breakfast. The meeting alro will be open to all transient men of the city, the Rev. Mr. Eberhardt announced. The mission will bring to a close its holy week program, with special Easter services in the afternoon and evening, followed with an evangelistic campaign, opening on Tuesday night, in charge of the Rev. F. Lincicome, evangelist. The mission will celebrate its fortieth anniversary April 24 with a mass meeting in the First Baptist church.

Candidates for the junior prom queen of the Butler university class dance have been announced by Emsley Johnson, prom chairman. The queen will be selected by the junior men and will lead the grand march at the dance April 21, in the Indiana ballroom. The nominees and their sororities are Miss Mabel Espey, Pi Beta Phi; Miss Marjorie Carr, Delta, Delta, Delta; Miss Martha Heller, Zeta Tau Alpha; Miss Evelyn Wolfard, Kappa Alpha Theta; Miss Mary Stierwalt, Kappa Kappa Gamma; Miss Florence Condry, Delta Zeta, and Miss Margaret Mattingly, Delta Gamma. Gale Shullenberger is in charge of decorations, which will include booths, designed by the fraternities. Elbert Gilliom is the class president. Y. W. C. A. GIRLS TO HOLD FINAL PARTY Y. W. C. A. business girls will hold a party Wednesday night at the Central Y. with Miss June Campbell in charge of the entertainment. This party marks the conclusion of a six weeks' period of activity. The new term will open April 26, extending until May 31. The observance of National Music week, a mothers’ party, vacation entertainments and trail tours will be stressed in the opening period. New interest groups will be scheduled as follows; First period, "Keeping Up With the Present.” a discussion on current happenings, gymnasium, swimming, poetry exchange. Second period, tennis, tap dancing and public speaking. Any business girl is invited to attend the party and join the activities of the new term.

April cycle, Good Will Club of St. Joseph parish, will give a card party at 2:30 Monday at its hall, 617 East North street. Mrs. Charle3 Lockman is chairman. Altar Society of the Sacred Heart church will give a card party and bake sale Monday afternoon in the hall. A free lunch v/ill be served following the games. Derbyshire, 770 North Arlington avenue, a former resident of Southport and active P.-T. A. worker, will be honored on Monday night by the Perry township P.-T. A. at the Southport high school building. Mrs. Derbyshire has been active in the work for thirty-one years, bein? president of the Marion county group, state president and chairman of the legislative committee. Speakers will include Mrs. John Askren, Marion county president; Ray R. Addington and Dr. D. H. Gillast of Indiana Central college. The program will be presented by Miss Leora Weimar, Mr* Elsie Eastbum and the Edgewood Dramatio Club.
