ROOSEVELT FIRE HITS HIGH PAY OF EXECUTIVES Administration Aids Drive to Force Down Alleged Excessive Salaries. 15V RAY TUCKER Tims Sovcial Writer WASHINGTON. April 13—The Rcoaevelt administration has Joined the nation-wide drive against alleged excessive salaries paid to executives of large railroad, insurance, Industrial and farm corporations. Through financial control vested In the Reconstruction Finance Corporation and the farm credit administration, the administration hopes to effect .'harp reductions in salaries. These salaries have been attacked in the courts on the ground that sums ranging from 51.200.000 down to SIOO,OOO represent too much of a drain on turnings in hard times. Pending bills in congress set maximum figures for railroad and insurance ext cutives borrowing from the R. F. C. at $25,000 and $17,500, respectively. Henry Moryenthau Jr., governor of the Farm 6 edit Corporation, has let it be known that future loans to farm co-opt ratives will be contingent on pat ment of reasonable salaries to their officials. Whereas they have received from $75,000 to $35,000 a year, he is said tc feel the top should approximate the $15,000 paid ,to cabinet officers, who now get $13,500 as a result of recent cuts.
