ARREST 2 FOR THREATENING OF U. S. WITNESS Released by Commissioner After Promise of ‘No More Trouble.’ After causing arrest today of two brothers of a liquor case defendant on a charge they had threatened a federal witness, United States Commissioner Fae W. Patrick relented and ordered their release after they had signed promises they would cause no further trouble. The defendant was Dave Petro, aged Brown county resident, who was he:4 to the federal grand jury under $2,000 bond. The brothers, Will, 62, and Pete Petro, 68, were accused by the government's principal witness, Floyd Roller, a neighbor of Dave. Roller said that prior to the hearing he was approached by the brothers in a corridor of the federal building and warned. “Go easv in what you say about Dave or there will be a future to this." The brot hers also offered to forget about a bill for $9.50 for lumber supplies to Roller from the Petro sawmill if he would fail to testify, the witness said. Isaac Petro, son of the accused, was warned by Patrick as he took the stand with a reference to the law concerning perjury. The father and son were said to have been riding in a wagon in which federal agents found a quantity of liquor. Dave Reed, a government witness. disappeared shortly before the hearing, but agents assured Patrick that he could be produced at any time.
