WITT IS GIVEN STAY OF DEATH UNTIL JULY 21 Supreme Court Fixes April 4 as Date for Arguments on Appeal. Stay of execution for Charles Vernon Witt, slayer of Lafayette Jackson. Indianapolis chain stores head, was granted today by the Indiana supreme court. Witt, scheduled to die in the electric chair March 31. was given a stay until July 21. The court also granted the petition of Ira M Holmes, Witt's attorney, for oral arguments on appeal from the first degree murder conviction, fixing April 4 as the date. AGED MAN IN OFFICE Easterner, 32, Serving Forty-Third Year as Town’s Treasurer. FALMOUTH, Mass., March 24. William H. Hewins, 92, has been reelected town treasurer, and Herbert FI. Lawrence, 76, has been re-elected constable. Hewins is serving his forty-third year as treasurer. Lawrence has been constable for nearly forty-one years.

In other accidents on Thursday three persons incurred slight injuries and two drivers were arrested. After his automobile

struck a pole at Orange and Shelby streets, Fletcher Wilkins, 35. of 904 North Grant avenue, was arrested on a drunken charge. He was not injured. Lacerations on the face were incurred by Gerald Hill, 35. of 653 Luett street, when a truck he was driving, collided at Vermont and Lynn streets with an automobile

driven by Mrs Dwight Bilbee. R R. 8. Box 233. She. was not hurt. Charges of drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident were filed against George Stout. 27, of 1227 Park avenue, a taxi driver, after his cab collided at Senate avenue and Michigan street, with a car driven by Clement Ampung. 31, a Filipino, and a soldier at Ft. Harrison. Stout incurred a dislocated shoulder and Ampung suffered slight cuts. Injuries Fatal to Miner By 1 nih <1 Prms % SULLIVAN, Ind.. March 24. John McClinn. 55, Dugger, died at a hospital here today from a broken back. He was caught between a coal car and a slate tail at the Starburn mine. March 2.

REUNION TO BE HELD Reunion of Indiana soldiers who fought on the Mexican border in 1916 and 1917, will be held May 6 and 7 at the Antlers. Four thousand men from the state were in military engagements on the border, according to George H. Healey, a local chairman, and a large number of veterans are expected to attend the reunion.
