FULL TERM FOR CITY’S SCHOOLS STILL IN DOUBT Closing of Semester to Depend Largely on Spring Tax Collections. Whether Indianapolis schools will have a full ten months’ school term this year remains undecided, although there is possibility the school term may be shortened. Superintendent Paul C. Stetson stated today he hoped soon to make an announcement regarding length of the school term. Length of the term depends largely on collections of spring taxes. The school board borrowed $600,000 this week in anticipation of collections, due on or before May 1. To meet straitened financial conditions, the board last August cut $857,495 from its budget. The Marion county tax adjustment board sliced this budget an additional $671,561. Some of this loss in revenue has met by elimination of all night schools, by discontinuing vocational education classes and cutting $625,450 from salaries and wages of teachers and other school employes. Another reduction of $206,400 was made in appropriations for the building and grounds department. School commissioners have announced it is their policy to adhere as closely as passible to the full term schedule. “Not a teaching day will be sacrificed that is not deemed absolutely necessary,” President Russell Willson has stated. $250 CAMERA STOLEN Stock Room of General Electric Firm Broken Into, Is Report.
