CITY IMPORTERS GO INTOCOURT Woman Judge to Decide on Protests of Three Local Concerns. Indianapolis importers will seek a woman’s opinion in the United States customs court here Friday to determine when furniture is antique and whether a teapot consists of one or two pieces. Judge Genevieve Kline of New York will preside at the court and decide whether furniture imported from England and Italy is 100 years old. The furniture, imported by the Charles Mayer Company, must be a century old if it is to come into this country duty free. The company is protesting a levy of 33 1-3 ad valorum duty. Likewise, the Mutual China Company is seeking reappraisement of duties on imported chinaware. New York customs officials fixed a duty of 10 cents on each piece of china. Since some articles consist of two pieces, including the lid, the China company contends each articles should bt assessed instead of each piece. Reappraisement of duties levied on coal tar impo.-ted from Germany by the Eli Lilly Company also will be sought. Customs officials advanced the duty on this product to raise its price to correspond with the American selling price. Public Dance to Be Held Public dance sponsored by the Women’s Club of Christian park will be held Saturday night at the park community house.
