COURT ORDERS FIVE DAUGHTERS TO AID FATHER Aged Man Declares That Married Children Did Not Support Him. Five married daughters of Christopher Vollmer, 77, were ordered to provide money for the support of their father by Paul Rochford, pro tern, judge in municipal court, today after the aged man had filed an affidavit charging failure to support. Mrs. Lena Lutz, 533 Division street, against whom the affidavit had been filed, received a suspended sentence of 190 days in jail anl fine of SI and costs. The suspension was made subject to weekly payment of $5 to the probation department. Four other daughters also were ordered to pay a like sum to support Vollmer, on penalty of six months’ imprisonment for failure to obey the court order. After a, conference in the probation department, Mrs. Lutz agreed to take care of her father for a three-month period beginning today. The others likewise agreed to this plan. With Mrs. Lutz in court were the sisters, Mrsfl Edna Webber, 840 South Sheffield avenue; Mrs. Elsie Bohlinger, 1325 South Sheffield avenue, and Mrs. Edna Judd South Sheffield. ..rthur Brumer, 531 £rbor avenue, appeared in court for his wife, Minnie. Brumer testified that the sisters had agreed to care for the father for a period of three months each, under an arrangement made in 1930. He and his tvife had cared for Vollmer for the last three months, he said, but Mrs. Lutz refused to take hhn into her home Feb. 1. RELIEF DRIVE OPENED Proceeds From Sale of Magazines to Aid Disabled Veterans. Proceeds from the sale of magazines by officers and members of the Women’s Overseas Service League will be used for the relief of disabled members of the league. Announcement of the plan was made today. Downtown headquarters have been established in 216 Big Four building, where a corps of women are assisting. Magazines will be sold through the Crowell Publishing Company. JOHNSON RITES" SET Funeral Services for Police Officer’s Wife to Be Held Today. Funeral services for Mrs. Eveletta Johnson, 59, of 855 North Keystone avenue, wife of patrolman Charles O. Johnson, were to be held at 2 today in Flanner & Buchanan mortuary. Cremation will follow. Mrs. Johnson died Tuesday after an attack of apoplexy while walking near her home. Surviviors, besides the husband, are two sons, Ralph E. and William Johnson, and two daughters, Miss Ruth E. Johnson and Mrs. Robert H, Shewalter, all of Indianapolis.

involuntary manslaughter by a jury in Clinton circuit court late Thursday in connection with thl death of Junior Hayes, 7. The child was struck by an automobile driven by Mrs. Nance on Jan. 17 while en route home from school. Judge Paul Laymon deferred sentence until Saturday morning. A prison term of one to ten years is provided under the charge, but leniency was expected because Mrs. Nance is expecting another child. Feeding a cow in winter costs about 38 cents a day, compared to less than 10 cents in summer when the cow Is turned out to pasture.
