Reynolds reduced prices on; cigarets, end other major producers were expected to follow. Th cut! permitted one large grocery chain! to reduce its retail price to 10 cents for a package of twenty cigarets. Today’s cigaret price reduction long has been anticipated, and tobacco shares thoroughly discounted it. Hence when the formal announcement was made shorts covered and the price of tobacco shares advanced. The reductions were forced, it was said, by inroads of low-priced cigarets which were seriously affecting sale of the popular brands. Car Loadings Rise Car loadings * ie 11.104 cars over the precediii Pek for the week ended Feb. 4 s hat also had been anticipated, i , railroad shares continued stror /, with several issues in particular favor. Canada Southern, inactive issue, soared 15 1 % points to 44'i on ten shares. Atlantic Coast Line and Pennsylvania were in demand. Automobile shares were dull around previous closing prices. A piece of good news for that group was provided by Cord Corporation, which declared a dividend of 10 cents a share, the first dividend in that company’s history. Oil shares improved and were relatively active. The industry, according to its leaders, has overcome some of its difficulties that a few weeks ago bade fair to demoralize it. Copper Shares Dull Proration laws are being more rigidly enforced, according to word from Texas and Oklahoma, and unfair methods of marketing and tax evasion are being eliminated. South Porto Rico was carried up to anew high since 1931 to feature the sugar shares. Westinghouse Air Brake was strong in the railroad equipments. Brooklyn - Manhattan Transit met buyers in the tractions. Copper shares held around the previous close in dull trading. Anaconda was given support following tile death of its chairman, John D. Ryan. American Smelting firmed up after it was announced the company had withdrawn from Copper Exporters, Inc., an organization formed to aid marketing operations of copper abroad. Steel shares held firm.

The record elephant tusks are the “kilimnjaro tusks,” which weighed 228 and 232 pounds, and were 12 feet in length. Considering the fact that each of these teeth had a nerve 12 feet long, it readily can be seen that a toothache is no laughing matter in the life of an elephant, and curious growths found in the nerve canal of tusks show that the big beasts do suffer from such ailments.
