FEDERAL TRADE BOARD FATE IS UP TO SENATE Fight for Funds Lost in House: Walsh to Take Battle to Floor. BV RUTH FINNEY Time* Stall Writer WASHINGTON. Feb. 3.—The fight lost in the house Thursday, to provide funds for continuing the economic work of the federal trade commission, will be renewed in the senate of the United States. If an amendment to increase the appropriation fails to win approval from the appropriations committee, Senator Thomas J. Walsh iDcm., Mont.) will ofler it on the senate floor. The house attempt to secure sufficient funds for keeping alive the economic division failed when a substitute providing an inadequate increase was presented by Representative William B. Bankhead •Dem., Ala i and adopted. Sum Far Short of Needs As the matter now stands, the commission is allowed SBII,OOO for the fiscal year 1934 instead of the $510,000 proposed by the house appropriations committee. This sum falls short by exactly the amount rrquimd for the work on the economic division of the appropriation recommended by the bureau of the budget. Representative John J. Cochran (Dem., Mo.), leader of the house fight for the economic division, charged today that Bankhead s substitute motion was part of a general attempt in the house to t prevent completion of the utilities* investigation and two new investigations into corporation practices and antitrust laws. C ommission Ready to Go Ahead ‘‘The commission is ready to go ahead with the most important investigation ever proposed,” said Cochran. “It wants to look into corporation practices that have cast millions of dollars of loss to the people of this country. That is why its appropriation is being cut.” Both Cochran and Representative F. H. La Guardia (Rep., N. Y.) predicted that under President-Elect Franklin D. Roosevelt the commission will be more useful than ever before, and will carry out policies for which it was originaly created in the Wilson administration. Hatch and others of Miami county has been settled out of court I for $3,750. Potts lost one of his legs ! last year when struck by an automobile owned by Hatch.

U. S. OF ASIA IS NEWEST VISION RISINGINTOKIO Confederation of Political and Commercial Nature Japanese Aim. By United Pro* SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 3. A United States of Asia, which would include Japan, China and Manchuria, is the vision of the Japanese government, according to Toshikiko Toketomi, who arrived here Thursday en route to Washington to become assistant to Ambassador Katsuge Debuchi. The Asiatic union would form a confederation both political and commercial that would be conducive to world peace, he said. “That is the natural development in the Far East,” Toketomi declared, "and one that will come over a long period of time.”
