Each publishing day for the next 30 days The Times will publish a part of th e U. S. Jig-saw Crossword Puzzle. When the last of the 30 puzzles have appeared and you have solved all of them, fit them together to form a large outline map of the United States. The one published above should be saved to serve as a guide. After you have solved them and fitted, them correctly you will find that three excerpts from famous speeches or documents will be found in the completed puzzle. Then send in your completed entry accord ing to the rules of the contest and as soon as the judges have an opportunity to consider all entries, announcement will be made 'of the 31 winners who will be awarded prizes totaling $125.00. The rules appear here; read them, follow them carefully and start from the very first day to build your U. S. Jig-saw Crossword Puzzle.

1. Beginning today The Times will publish each day a Jig-Saw Crossword Puzzle of original jig-saw design, together with a definition of the words which are to fill the blank spaces. A total of 30 Jig-Saw Crossword Puzzles will be published. 2. The objects of the contest are: (1) To correctly solve each of the 30 individual puzzles. After each puzzle s solved it should be cut out along the outside of its heavy black border and saved until the last puzzle has been published (2) After all 30 puzzles have been published and solved they must be fitted together tc form a large outline map of the United States. The one published above should be saved to serve as a guide. <3) If puzzles have been properly fitted together to form a large outline map it will be discovered that by reading across the map from left to right, you will find excerpts from three famous documents —The Declaration of Independence; Lincoln’s First Inaugural Address, and Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. Indicate with an arrow at the left side of the said map, the lines containing any portion of these excerpts. 3. or bring the completed map with lines containing excerpts properly checked to the U. S. Jig-Saw Crossword Puzzle Contest Editor, care of The Indianapolis Times, before midnight, ten days after the publication of puzzle No. 30, the last of the series. Be sure your name and address appear plainly on both envelope and map. 4. In case of ties, duplicate prizes will be awarded. 6. Awarding of prizes will be on the basis of accuracy, legibility and neatness of presentation. 7 Awards will be announced by The Times as soon as judging can be completed following close of contest. 8. The Times will appoint judges, and contestants with submission of entries agree to abide by their decision as final. 9. The Times can not undertake to return entries. 10. This contest is open to all readers of The Times except employees of this newspaper and members of their families. It is not necessary to buy a Times to compete in this contest. Copies of The Times are on file in the Public Library and in the office of The Times where copies of the puzzle may be traced or copied, free of charge. Be sure that mailed entries have sufficient postage and that all entries have the name and address of the sender. Persons desiring further information should address questions to the U. S.
