SANTA'S PLANE LANDSJN CITY 2,000 Children Greet Him on Arrival in West Side Fete. Santa Claus came to 2.000 West Indianapolis children today in an airplane, staging one of the most novel Christmas stunts ever witnessed in Indianapolis. Flying through a blinding rain while hundreds of children looked on, Howard Maxwell, the flying St. Nicholas, saw he would be unable to bring his plane down in Rhodius park as was scheduled. He landed on Standard avenue and Blaine street, and climbed out of the cockpit in the pouring rain. Maxwell looked at his landing field. It was a paved street and his plane rested between a parked automobile and a utility pole. Trailed by the hundreds of children and their parents, Santa Claus strolled to the undertaking parlors of William D. Beanblossom at 1221 West Ray street. The crowd had reached 2,000, and when Beanblossom opened his garage for distribution of the gifts, the line of children extended more than three blocks.
