Out-of-Date Party to Be Club Event A revival of outmoded games and Blunts will be featured Saturday night at the “out-of-date” party to be given for members and their friends at the Meridian Hills Country Club. The party will be the last of the year, under the direction of the present entertainment committee. Guests will come in "out-of-date” dress, and prizes will be awarded during the grand march for the funniest, the most authentic, and the oldest costume. A quartet will give selections of '‘out-of-date” songs, and a grab bag will offer as prizes old-fashioned ‘‘white elephant” gifts. A feature of the party will be a "peanut” game, which will be played at card tables, and a limerick contest, which is said to have been a popular party game a generation or so ago. Limericks will be given, with the last line blank, to be filled in by the contestants. The committee in charge of the party includes: Messrs. and Mesdames John W. Hutchings. Arthur E. Krlck, E. O. Reservations for Thanksgiving dinners to be served at the club are expected to be made early. Two dinners will be served on Thanksgiving, one a four-course dinner and one a two-course dinner. Elma Igelman to Appear With Singing Strings in Recital
Kappa chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, national musical sorority, will present Miss Elma Igelman, lyric soprano, and the Mu Phi singing strings in joint recital Dec. 1 at Caleb Mills hali for the benefit of the scholarship fund. Women Council Plans Study Program The study program for the coming year, the “School Politics,” will be introduced at the meeting of the Marion County Council of Republican Women, at 2 Tuesday, in the palmroom of the Claypool. Mrs. Frank J. Lahr will give the first article, which will deal with city government. Former State Senator Joe Rand Beckett will speak on “The Importance of Taxation to Everyday Life,” and an open forum will be conducted at the close of the meeting. Irvington Artists Fifth Annual Exposition Will Open Nov. 27
Wilbur Peat, director of the John Herron Art Institute, will open the fifth annual exhibit of Irvington artists Sunday afternoon, Nov. 27, when he will talk on the exhibit to be held Nov. 27 to Dec. 4 in Carr’s hall, 5436 East Washington Street. Hilton U. Brown will respond to Mr. Peat's talk with an expression of appreciation to the artists for their display. Mrs. Clarence Forsyth and Miss Katherine Layman are co-chairmen in charge of arrangements. During the week talks will be given by William Forsythe. Frederick Polley and Luther Dickerson, city librarian, and others to be announced later, with the dates of their appearance. Simon P. stringed instruments, under the direction of Jean Orloff. Sol Bernat assists in the viola section. The ensemble will offer an arrangement of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto by Michele Esposito. The concerto is scored for two viole de braccio, two viole de Gamba, violincello, vilin, contra-bass and Cembalo. Os the six Brandenburg concertos written by Bach, all of which were dedicated to the duke of Brandenburg, no two were scored for the same combination of instruments. Two movements of a modern suite, by Frank Bridge, will also be presented. This, like the Brandenburg concerto, has not been heard before in Indianapolis. Mrs. Leone Kinder Rickman is general chairman of arrangements, with Miss Myla Herrman as financial chairman, in charge of ticket sales. Miss Hermann announces that tickets may be had at all branches of the Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music, and at the Gladys Alwes Music Shoppe On the Circie. Student tickets are available at a reduced rate.

Miss Helen Luedeman is a member of thecommittee in charge of the tenth anniversary celebration of the Alpha chapter, Tau Delta Sigma sorority, to be held tonight at the Avalon Country Club. Following the dinner, a dance will be held. Members of Beta chapter at Anderson wil attend. The program will be based on the history of the sorority. The engagement of Miss Mary Isabelle Leedy, daugter of Mrs. Ulysses Grant Leedy, 5206 Grandview drive, to Calvin Charles Hampton of Worland, Wyo., has been announced. In the original production, this part was played by Alison Skipworth. Mrs. Shappert is a graduate of the University of Illinois where she was active in dramatic productions. Colonial Boston chapter will meet at the Lumley tea room at 10 Wednesday, with luncheon at 12. The hostesses will be Mesdames W. A. Ferguson, Charles Hatton, Nan Brosman and E. F. Gill. Two new members. Mrs. C. A. Harper and Mrs. Cubert W. Sutton, will be received into the chapter. Thanksgiving decorations will be carried out. A musical program has been arranged by the hostesses. Mt. Vernon chapter will meet Nov. 30. instead of Nov. 23. and Mrs. Howard Spurgeon. 1062 West Thirtyfirst street, will entertain the chapter at 12:30. Mrs. Eural Byfield and Mrs. John strack will assist the hostess. Zuyder Zee chapter will meet at 7 Friday at the home of Mrs. Elmer Pohlman, 907 Eastern avenue, for a hard times party. Each member will bring one or more guests. There will be a display of Indian articles. Hawaiian chapter will meet with Mrs. Garnette Shake, 2630 East Tenth street, Friday, for a 1 o’clock luncheon. Mrs. H. O. Myers, Mrs. Elsworth McComb, Mrs. Edith Turley and Mrs Moffat Ulrey will be guests. Lady Aberdeen chapter will meet Saturday at the Lincoln for a 1 o’clock luncheon. Wedding to Take Place Christmas Miss Dorothy Stephenson Pier, whose marriage to Willis Lester Jackman, will take place Christmas day at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs C. H. Pier, 3305 Ruckle street, will be entertained today at a bridge tea and personal shower, to be given by Mrs. William Bugg at her home In Plainfield. The serving table will be arranged with small chrysanthemums in the varied fall colors. Green tapers, tied with yellow tulle will light the table. All appointments will be in 'these colors. Miss Helen DeVelllng gave a surprise shower and bridge party on Friday night at her home, 5302 Central avenue, for Miss Pier. Guests were 1929 members of Chimes, Junior class honorary organization at Butler university, of which Miss Pier was a member. The guests included Misses Evelyn Seward of Columbus, Dorothy Lambert, Dorothy Ragan, Betty Evans, Frances Lyons, and Mesdames James Zoercher and Dan Young. Other guests were Miss Pier's mother. Mrs. Charles H. Pier, and her sister, Miss Evelyn Pier. Junior League to Hold Exhibit of State Art An exhibit and sale of paintings by Indiana artists will be sponsored by the arts and interests division of the Junior League Dec. 5 to 10 at Ayres. Mrs. Ward Hackleman is chairman of the exhibit committee. Mrs. Robert Winslow is chairman of the division, assisted by Mrs. Hackelman, Mesdames Thomas, Harvey Cox, Elsa Pantzer Haerle. Robert Millikan and Miss Rosamond Van Camp. Members of the league will act as ushers. The showing will be open to the public. Invitations have been' sent to the Rotary, Kiwanis, Portfolio, Woman's Department clubs and other organizations. Silhouette Tea to Be Held by Musical Groups A silhouette tea will be given from 2 to 5 Tuesday. Nov. 29. at the home of Mrs. Lon R. Mauzy, 4455 Broadway, by the active chapter and, patroness section of Sigma Alpha lota national professional musical sorority. The affair will be for the benefit of the voice and violin scholarship funds of the active chapter and the piano scholarship fund of the patroness section. An exhibit of silhouettes will be included, and Mrs. H. Wilson Peterson will cut silhouettes of those attending the tea. The committee arranging the tea includes: Mrs. Clair McTurnan, ways and mean* chairman of the active group; Mrs. Frederick H. Sterling, president, and Mrs. Edwin H. Shedd. chairman of finance of the partoness section. Mrs. Lenore Roberts is president of the active group. ST. JOHN’S WILL HOLD HOME-COMING The Sisters of Providence, in charge of St. John’s academy, have extended an invitation to all former pupils of the academy to attend the annual home-coming Sunday, Nov. 27.
