M'ffliTT NAMES GREENLEE TO BE SECRETARY Campaign Manager Given First Appointment of Administration. Appointment of Pleas E. Greenlee of Bhelbyville, former newspaper man and campaign manager for Paul V. McNutt as secretary to the Governor-elect, was announced today. This is the first appointment made by the new administration. Greenlee wai secretary of the McNutt for-Govemor clubs formed before the convention. He was born in Rush county in 1891 and was reared in Shelby county. Following graduation from high vhool he became a member of the staff of the Shelbyvillc Democrat. He enlisted in the 150th field artillery in 1917 and served as a private in France throughout the war. F.leeted While Overseas While overseas Greenlee was informed that he had been elected city clerk of Shelbyville, having been nominated in the primary that spring. He was sworn in by the American consul at St. Nazaire, France and was city clerk until the end of the war although his deputy performed the duties. Upon his return to Shelbyville he was re-eelcted city clerk and in 1926 became advertising and business manager of the Shelbyville Democrat. He held this post until 1928 when he was appointed state adjutant of the American Legion. Two years later he resigned, sold his interest in the Shelbyville paper and with Wray Fleming, purchased the Michigan City Dispatch. Aided in Campaign During this time he aided in managing McNutt's campaign and in August of this year Greenlee and Fleming sold the Michigan City paper, and the former became head of the veterans department of the Democratic state committee and the latter became publicity director. Greenlee also served as engrossing clerk of the house of representatives during 1931. He is married and has two children.
