VOTERS FORGET 2 AMENDMENTS; FAIL JO PASS State Issues Are Dropped Aside in Rush to Name President. Forgotten in the maze of national issues, early reports indicate that the two proposed amendments to the state Constitution providing for an income tax and bar examinations, failed because of lack of interest and not because of adverse votes. Although the income tax amendment received approval of a majority of those who voted in Marion county, it failed to receive the necessary majority of being acted upon by a majority of the voters appearing at the polls. It would, in all probability, have been carried overwhelmingly if there had been widespread interest. From all indication less than onethird of the voters registered their opinion on the income tax amendment and even fewer voted on the stipulation providing for written examinatioas for applicants for the bar.

Real Prophet Among the “I-told-you-sos” today as a result of the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt to the presidency, none is more jubilant than Vernon Smith, 734 North Bradley avenue, and with good reason, too. Smith is exhibiting a letter dated Oct. 13, 1930, from George Horace Lorimer, editor of the Saturday Evening Post, which says, in part: "In predicting the 1932 election two years ahead you are bolder than we should care to be,” and adds that Roosevelt appeared to be in “grave danger” of being defeated for reelection m Governor of New York in the election held a month after the letter was written.

Elected Goats Losers of Voting Bets to Pay Off in Many Freak Ways.
THE wheelbarrow and the kiddie car became popular modes of transportation today as the aftermath of betting on the outcome of Tuesday's election. The peanut trade apparently picked up considerably, too, as Hoover losers prepared to concentrate on the serious business of rolling a peanut over a specified course, several of these downtown. Reports to The Times today indicated that the Circle will be a favorite trysting place for the antics of many losers. "Performance” this afternoon was to include two wheelbarrow acts, a kiddie car performance and a roller skating demonstration, It was reported. Winners of many bets, apparently gloating over the possible embarrassment of losers, went to any extreme to increase that embarrassment by seeking loud publicity. One barber in the 1100 block Prospect street was reported to have shaved his head by way of explaining his support for the, G. 0.-P. Several losers were reported as scheduled to pursue a solitary peanut around the circle, while, in another case, a misguided voter was to break the bedlam on Washington street by parading in "shorts.” INSULL JR.
