FRESHMEN RAID i GIRLS'BUILDING; 13 FACE OUSTER 23 Invaders of Dormitory Escape at Stanford; Rest Trapped. By I nitrd Prrgg PALO ALTO, Cal. Nov. 4. Thirteen Stanford university freshmen faced expulsion today as the result of their first “victory" in six years in their annual "raid” on Roble hall, girls’ dormitory. Windows were broken, tables and chairs smashed, and wild screams pierced the night air as thirty-six pajama-clad frosh stormed the hall • in the traditional affair, which follows the university's “Pajamerino rally." Pajama-clad co-eds shrieked, and ran frantically to cover under teds and In clothes closets as the firstyear men spent half an hour run- j ning through the corridors of the of the three-story building. It was their first successful entry in six years. After half an hour of triumph, the invaders realized they might be trapped by irate university officials. All but thirteen of them managed to escape. Those trapped were identified ; and disciplinary action was expected to be taken today. GROCERIES TO OPEN Standard Will Add Three to Organization. Three new grocery stores will be opened by the Standard Grocery Company, it was announced today by Chester H. Jackson, owner of the fchain. The new stores will be located at 1 Belmont Avenue and Michigan street;* State and English avenues, and Washington and Oriental streets. The latest equipment, assuring cleanliness in handling foodstuffs, will be installed in the stores. Corner sites were selected to insure automobile parking facilities. OIL MEN WILL _ ELECT Officers to Be Named by Indiana Petroleum Association. Election of officers this afternoon was to close the three-day session of the Indiana Petroleum Association convention at the Severin. The final program got under way with discussion of legislative proposals to be made to the next session of the state legislature. Independent dealers will unite with the large producing and retailing companies in a united front for passage of law's, it was predicted. Max L. Wickcrsham, executive secretary of the association, which is made up of the independent dealers, denounced the law passed at the special session taxing other fuel than gasoline. It has been more drastic on legitimate dealers than “bootleggers," he said. REROUTING IS ORDERED Temporary Street Car Switching to Be Made Over Week-End. Temporary rerouting of the College avenue, Brookside, East Tenth street and Columbia-Indiana street cars Saturday and Sunday, to permit rebuilding of track on Massachusetts avenue, between Alabama and Delaware streets, was announced today by officials of Indianapolis Railways. Instead of leaving the downtowm section on Pennslvania street, cars will turn north on Alabama street at Washington, continuing north to Massachusetts avenue. Columbia avenue and Indiana avenue cars will use Alabama street instead of Delaware street between Massachusetts avenue and Washington street.
