HUNDREDS OF NEEDY EAT AT PENNY A DISH 250 Are Served on First Day in Adventists’ New Restaurant. The cash register of the “penny-a-dtsh” cafeteria of the SeventhDay Adventist Welfare Society at 20 South Delaware street, only registers about $3.50 after one day's business. However that $3.50 means that hundreds were fed at 1 cent a dish. Opening Monday the cafeteria catered to approximately 250 persons and today breakfast was served to ninety-five persons. The management expects to serve 1,000 persons daily. The lunch hours are 7 to 9 a. m. for breakfast and 11:30 a. m. to 5 p. m. for dinner. Breakfasts include oatmeal, toast, potatoes, apple sauce, cocoa and milk. Fitted for Women A mezzanine floor is fitted up for a dining room for women and children. Directors of the cafeteria said the patrons Monday and today praised the low prices of food for iow pock-et-books. “I only earn a few cents a day selling papers," declared one aged man," but I can alwaye bank on getting a meal now and without feeling like I'm begging for my food.” One man entered the cafeteria today with his aged mother. He ordered six dishes. The mother sat at a table while he got the tray of food. He paid 6 cents for the dinner and the food was split between them. Til Pay This Back’ Another man, well-dressed, entered the cafeteria and said to one of the waitresses, "I look like I’ve got money, maybe, but I haven't much. Just a few cents.” Told to get a tray and pick out his food, he selected a 5-cent meal, and before he sat down to eat
