WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, shall go to the polls on November Bth with a single purpose, —to elect a national administration competent to restore the prosperity of the American farmer, business mfan and wage earner, and committed by its platform to policies which will achieve that end. For four years the Republician administration has not only failed to check the steady decline in prices of commodities and farm products, the shrinkage in trade and the calamity of widespread unemployment, but has prolonged and accelerated these misfortunes by the passage of the iniquitous Hawley-Smoot tariff bilk The Hawley-Smoot tariff bill is, in our deliberate opinion, the most unsound and the most damaging tariff legis-

THE PATRIOTIC LEAGUE FOR BUSINESS BETTERMENT
THE SIMPLE DECLARATION OF FAITH expressed on this page is signed by clear-thinking American business and industrial leaders. Some are Republicans, some are Democrats, but political affiliations are to them relatively unimportant. They are neither office-seekers nor campaign orators. Their vote on Election Day is governed by one supreme consideration —to obtain a business administration that is.economiccdly sound and which will create markets for the products of American farms and factories, put unemployed men back to work, and restore the American standard of living in every home. To accomplish this purpose, they here announce their intention of voting for, a Democratic President and Congress.

lation ever enacted in this country or in any country. It has robbed our farmers, our manufacturers and our merchants of their foreign markets. It has driven Americian factories into foreign countries. Its prohibitive rates* have created international ill-will, and have led more than forty countries to take retaliatory action against the United States. The Republican party widely sponsored this law is committed to its continuance. The Democratic party which opposed this law is pledged to its repeal. We shall vote the national Democratic ticket, because we believe that only a Democratic administration and Democratic Congress will bring this country back to a state of economic health and universal prosperity, “with equal rights to all, special privileges to none.”
