Rules for The Scrambled Letter Puzzle Contest! 1. The Indianapolis Times Scrambled Letter Puzzles include the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. The publication of the various letters of thq alphabet will cover a period of twenty-six consecutive week-days, one letter being published each day. These letters appearing in The Indianapolis Times are cut into pieces of varying shapes, the object being to place these parts together so they will form the respective letters as illustrated in the outline accompanying the pieces. 2. An outline and its entire parts will be published in The Indianapolis Times each day, a different letter of the alphabet being presented each time. The publication of all letters of the alphabet wdll cover a period of twenty-six days. 3. Any one may participate in this profitable fun, except employees of The Indianapolis Times and their families. You pay nothing to enter. Each letter as it appears in The Indianapolis Times may be traced or copied free of charge from the files at the office of this newspaper or at public libraries. 4. The Indianapolis Times will pay $125.00 in cash prizes to the persons who send in the nearest correctly solved complete set of puzzles in accordance with the rules. This does not necessarily mean that you have to solve all of the puzzles to wKn. The prizes will be paid to the persons whose entries rank the highest. Neatness, accuracy, and simplicity are the prime requisites. Accurate cutting and correct assembling of the pieces to form each respective letter will be considered by the judges of the contest in determining the winners. Entries that are elaborate will receive no more consideration than the simplest ones. Young and old have an equal chance to win! % 6. Take the page of THE INDIANAPOLIS TIMES wherein the puzzle is published daily. Cut the pieces carefully along the outside of the black border and paste these pieces neatly so that you completely cover the letter appearing opposite; and repeat this operation every day with the new letters of THE INDIANAPOLIS TIMES SCRAMBLED LETTER CONTEST published in The Indianapolis Times until you complete within the period specified, the full alphabet ! 6. Puzzle solutions are to be submitted ONLY IN COMPLETE SETS at the end of twenty-six week days, after all letters of the alphabet have been published in The Indianapolis Times. DO NOT SEND EACH PUZZLE IN SEPARATELY. When you have the complete set of twenty-six puzzles, or Parts thereof, mail first class postage prepaid, or bring them to the SCRAMBLED LETTER CONTEST EDITOR, Indianapolis Times, 214 West Maryland street, Indianapolis, Indiana. All entries must be in by midnight, ten days after the last puzzle has been published in The Indianapolis Times. The winners will be announced as soon thereafter as possible. Be sure that mailed entries have name and address of sender and that sufficient postage is used. All entries become the property of The Indianapolis Times and will not be returned. 7. The Indianapolis Times will appoint judges and their decisions will be Anal. In event of a tie for any of the prizes offered, the full amount of the prize tied for will be awarded each tying contestant.
