Attacks Bad Food for City Needy
DEMAND that civic organizations and city and county authorities take immediate steps to halt distribution of alleged bad food by groceries operating under the township trustee's poor relief system, was made today by Dr. Walter E. Hemphill, president of the Enterprise Civic League.

Dr. Hemphill asked civic groups to co-operate in the drive to eliminate complaints from needy that the food, especially meat, is not edible. According to Dr. Hemphill, the matter will be laid before city and county officials within the next few days. Several instances in which meat has been in such condition that it could not be eaten has been called to the attention of the city health board in the last few weeks. Dr. Hemphill attacked statements of Indianapolis persons before various organizations that

the made-work systems of poor relief “is a fine thing.” “The people who have shown me bad food are of high type, responsible and skilled workmen, who, under other circumstances, are able to take care of themselves,” he said. “They are unfortunate in having to be helped at this time.” Flying Companion Asks Divorce ST.
