HARNESS RACING OPENS HERE SATURDAY
Horseman 3-Year-Old Trot on Monday Bill Grand Circuit Events Get Under Way Labor Day; The Marchioness Favored Over Brilliant Field in Coveted SB,OOO Feature. With thirty-three races and nearly $50,000 in prize money, harness racing will get under way at the Indiana state fair ground Saturday. Grand Circuit events do not start until Monday, with the Labor day card featured by the Horseman Futurity for 3-year-old trotters. One of the greatest races of the Grand Circuit season is expected in this event. The same field which battled for the $50,000 Hambletonian prize is entered, and sensational time is expected over the fast Hoosier track.

Horst captured singles honors by shading Demmary, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, 4-5, 6-3, in a bitter battle. In doubles, Demmary paired wjth Joe Stubbs to carry off top honors, defeating Horst ajid Vincent .Meunier, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, 1-8, 6-0. Bob Neidhamer defeated Al Meunier in the junior singles, and paired with Randolph Schumbert to take the junior doubles laurels. This country needed only three victories in today’s eight singles matches to send Britain’s leading amateurs home once again without the coveted trophy.
