The only organized dry group actively supporting President Herbert Hoover's prohibition stand—the Allied Forces for Prohibition—was disclosed today as having been organized chiefly by personal friends of the chief executive. Republican politicians, Hoovercrats and clerics, who campaigned for the G. O. P. in 1928, It was created in May, 1931, at a time when the wet wing of the Democratic party seemed to be in control, and Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt of New York, then the leading Democratic presidential candidate, had declared against prohibition. It came at a period when Hoover was regarded as an extreme dry, politically, as he had forwarded to congress a dry message based on the Wickersham commission's wet recommendations. Anew investigation into the disappearance of 1,200 pints of bonded liquor from the Federal building basement several months ago, will be completed within two weeks, it was learned today at Washington. Apparently unaware of the new probe into the affair, local officials declined to comment on the possibility cf new clews, reported obtained, leading to solution of the booze theft. Amos W. W. Woodcock, head of the United States prohibition bureau, today admitted the existence of the new quiz, according to dispatches. He said the investigation had been placed in the hands of “another investigator,” but refused to name the agent. He also stated agents originally named to the investigation had failed completely. “Every clew they followed led to a blank wall,” Woodcock said. The liquor was confiscated by
