KENTUCKY FINDS MEDICAL LIQUOR LAW IS SUCCESS State Profits by Tax and Only One Drug Store Is Held as Violator. Hu 7 imrn Special LOUISVILLE, Aug. 4—During the fiscal year ended June 30, 1932, Kentucky collected $194,000 in state taxes on whisky prescriptions, there being 388.0C0 such prescriptions written, an average of a little more tban 1,030 daily. Federal inspectors check all drugstores and physicians filling or is- j suing such prescriptions very closely. In a per.od of more than fourteen months, but one drugstore ha. been cited for violation of the regulations, and this was not a flagrant case. Four-fifths of the medicinal | whisky in the United States today is j stored in Kentucky warehouses. The ! youngest whisky now being sold is , sixteen years, having stood in; charred kegs since before the United j States entered the World war, when ! wartime prohibition suspended dis- j tilling. Authorities claim that this is the best whisky ever sold in this country. While manufacture was resumed three years ago, the new crop will not be ready for market for several years, there being a sufficient supply in storage of the aged liquor j to take care of all demands under ' the present regulations for three or j lour more years.
