HOUSE PLUNGES INTO ACTION ON EXPENSE CUTS| Biennial Appropriations Are Focal Point in Tax Relief Fight. Spurred by th" fact (hat only eighteen days of the special session remain, the house of representatives today plunged into considera- j tion of the amended bisnnial appropriations bill, the most important tax relief measure of the session. The lower house was to resolve i Itself into a committee of the whole I in the afternoon session with ex- i pectation of acting on the appropri- j fltions bill before adjournment. It j was expected debate over the measure will continue tonight. The bill, drawn by Representatives Earl Crawford (Dero.) of Milton and Hardin S. Linke 'Drm.i of Columbus, would pare personnel and operating expenses of practically every state department in accordance with/tax relief aims of j the session. May Meet Saturday Before the morning session was \ recessed, Delph McKesson of Plym- j outh, Democratic floor leader, urged ; members to prepare amendments to the bill before convening this afternoon. If no agreement is reached, before adjournment tonight, session will be held Saturday, he declared. Speaker Walter Myers urged house action on the bill before Monday to facilitate its passage to the senate, where it is expected to be greeted with heated controversy. Apparently smarting under criticism for inaction and giving attention to measures not devoted to tax relief or reduction of government costs, the house today killed five! bills bearing on foreign subjects. Affect Legal Advice Two of these bills would have prohibited banks and trust companies for giving legal advice, while I another would have blocked en- I forcemont of the garnishee law until | 1934. A fourth measure which was voted to its death would have required banks to furnish bond in j

One factor which apparently spurred the house to more rapid action on the 350 bills now awaiting consideration, was presenting of a petition by 34,000 Marion county taxpayers calling on the general assembly to devote remainder of the time solely to tax relief issues.
