EVICTION EDICT IS DEFIED BY BONDS TROOPS ‘They’ll Have to Move Us Out Bodily,’ Is Shout of Commander. VnilttH Pros WASHINGTON. July 22.—A defiant answer to the police order that members of the bonus army evacuate government buildings was issued today by Walter W. Waters, commanding the main body of bonus seeking veterans. Waters said that while resistance by force would not be tolerated, he had instructed his men to remain in their quarters until the police nut them out. “If they choose to evict the veterans from their cantonment at Third and Pennsylvania avenue, ! they will have to evict them bodily, one by one,” Waters said. “If they choose to arrest them—well the housing problem will be taken from the shoulders of the bonus expedi- I tionary force and placed on those of the District of Columbia and its I Jails.” “Trying to Stampede IV 'The eviction at the Third and Pennsylvania avenue buildings was ordered by police for this afternoon. Waters sped by automobile to the camp site between Pennsylvania and Missouri avenues which police have ordered evacuated by midnight, because of its unwholesomeness. “Our opponents are trying to stampede us,” Waters cried, after j reading his order that the men were not to leave until other billets were provided. ‘ They’re not going to run us out of the only homes we have, j “If they want to take you to jail le* them. I'm not going to start a fight unless I have to, but just let them start any rough stuff—” A crowd of about 800 veterans cheered him and made no move to evacuate. Spurs on Veterans James H. Maurer, Socialist candidate r or Vice-President, visited the main burns camp at Anacostia during the morning and urged a crowd of 450 veterans to oppose all efforts to move them out of Washington. “Your march on Washington and pneampment, here,” he said, “has been one of the few cheering signs of resentment against the rotten mess into which the rulers of the country have led us.” Commander Waters was a guest at the camp for the noon day meal. He decided to he on hand when the police began to enforce their ordprs. “Huh, Glassford don’t want to evacuate us,” said one of the veterans. “He’s just got to obey them commissioners’ orders, but he'd like to get out of it.” Union Carpenters Are Beaten ft jt I inlril Press CLEVELAND. July 22. Five union carpenters were beaten and seriously injured by a gang of thirty men here today as the climax to a dispute over whether ironworkers or carpenters should hang metal doors and place metal thresholds on the new juvenile courts building.

Boys—Here’s Your, Big Summer Chance
Paradise Is Here for the Asking—and for Only a Picture. One of the most beautiful sights in the world may be seen nightly at Culver Military academy, Indiana, when the students there hive assembly on the broad campus Just before the evening meal. As the stiams of the big miliary band float out upon the placid lake the boys, fully uniformed, form on the campus in parade formation. A lone bugler, silhouetted’ against' the sky like a bronze statute, blows assembly from the turret tower of the main school building. Then follows the flag lowering ceremony, touchingly beautiful procedure. After the sunset gun, the cadets march into the big mess hall and enjoy the evening meal. This ceremony will be seen by the boys who are winners in The TimesApollo theater contest which now is being run in connection with the showing of “Tom Brown of Culver” which has its world premiere at the Apollo today. Hemorrhoids How to End Painful Piles Without Salves or Cutting. Thousands who have piles have not yet learned that quick and lasting relief ran only be accomplished with an internal medicine. Neither salves nor suppositories remove the cause. Bad circulation of blood in the lower bowel causes piles. The hemorrhoidal veins are flabby, the bowel walls weak —the parts almost dead. To get rid of Piles an internal medicine must be used to stimulate the circulation, drive out the thick impure blood, heal and restore the affected parts. Dr. J. S. Leonhardt, after years of study, found a real internal Pile remedy. He called his discovery HEMROID, and prescribed It for 1.000 patients with success in over 900 cases, and then decided every Pile sufferer, no matter how stubborn their case, might try his prescription with a money back guarantee. So why waste time on external remedies or worry about an operation when Hook'* Dependable Drug Stores and all good druggists Invite you to try HEM-ROID and guarantee money refunded if it does not end your Pile misery.—Advertisement.
