HOLD FUNERAL SERVICES FOR FATHERJUFFY Thousands View Cortege of Famed Chaplain: Rites Are Impressive. Bu Lnitrd Prrte NEW YORK, June 29. Thousands of persons lined the streets today as the body of the Rev. Francis P. Duffy, famous war-time chaplain, was carried through Bt. Patricks cathedral in an impresri* funeral service. The body, In a mahogany casket, *as carried from the Holy Cross church through a lane formed by twenty girls in white and twenty boys in blue jackets and white trousers, the graduating class of Holy Cross school. Horse in Procession The casket was placed on a caisson drawn by six horses as the funeral procession passed to the cathedral, where impressive services were held before more than 1,000 representatives of the army and navy, government, state and city officials, the Catholic clergy and ministers of other denominations. Father Duffy's sister, brother, nieces and nephews were among the mourners. "Captain,” the horse which Father Duffy had ridden for nine years, was in the funeral procession, with boots reversed in the stirrups and draped in mourning. Seventy-five noted men led the procession. The civilian contingent was under the leadership of Colonel William J. Donovan, who was wartime commander of the old Sixtyninth regiment, in which Father Duffy served in France as chaplain. Roosevelt Is Represented Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt was represented by the adjutantgeneral of the New York national guard, Major-General Franklin W. Ward. It was undecided today whether Father Duffy s body would bo taken immediately to the Arlington national cemetery, Washington, where a plot has been offered by the secretary of war, or not. It was believed that interment would be made here temporarily. PREDICTS PARKS RECORD Attendance at State Reservations Growing, Lieber Shows. With fovorable weather conditions, anew high attendance record will be made for the week-end and July Fourth at the ten Indiana state parks, it was predicted today by Director Richard Lieber of the state conservation department. OVERSIZE TRUCK LAW GOES INTO EFFECTIULY 1 Giant Busses Ordered Off State Highways in Police Edict. Overweight, overlong and overhigh trucks have forty-eight hours to get off the Hoosier highways and avoid fines. This ultimatum came jointly from the state police and state highway officials today. Starting Friday morning, officers will enforce the 1931 truck law, which prescribes limits to length, width and height of trucks traveling "any public highway of the state.” “The law was to have become

effective Jan. 1, 1932, but truckmen obtained an injunction in a Marion county superior court, which was not dissolved until June 13. It then was agreed with attorneys lor the trucking interests that enforcement would not start until July 1. Henry' Campbell, former Marion county surveyor, has charge of the enforcement for the state highway department. Scales to weigh a truck wheel and thus determine the entire load have been assigned to each of the six state highway’ districts. They are portable and can be used anywhere a truck is stopped. State police will make all arrests and each patrolman will be equipped with a measure to check on over-size vehicles, Chief Grover Garrovt said.
