June 29.—Investment In deflated real estate is one of the surest havens for conserving financial resources in a depression. Harland H. Allen. Chicago economist, declared today in an address before the annual convention of the national association of real estate boards. in many cases, Allen pointed out, niy a small margin of new funds is iepuired to complete reorganization of deflated and earning real estate properties, now in receivership. "The situation affords investors an opportunity to have a closed first mortgage on earning properties in amounts as small- as 1 to 25 per cent of conservative valuation, with interest protected several times over by present net rental income,” he said. Investors in real estate help release community purchasing power and all such spending as gives business a chance. Alien declared.

‘Perfect’ Shame Will Providing Cash for 'Eugenic Baby’ Births Is Frustrated.
IMDRONTO, Ontario. June 29. A plan for financing the birth of “eugenic babies" has been frustrated by a Toronto justice who ruled the bequest was not for charitable purposes. The late Watson G. Walton of Hamilton. Ontario, bequeathed $296,241 to establish a foundation, whi h would induce physically and mentally fit Wentworth county couples to give birth to children. The will specified that each prospective parent must undergo a rigorous examination to determine fitness for parenthood. Children were to be examined when 12 years old, and if 99 per cent perfect., were to receive SSOO each. If they -emained 99 per cent perfect at the age of 21. they were to get another SSOO. Justice W. A. Logie, however, held the bequest invalid. Walton asked in his will that Mrs. Beatrice L. Kendall, Glendale <Cal.) nurse, be made paid secretary of the foundation and one one of its governors. June 29.—Immigration officials today held Paul Kaiser, 25, a German citizen, who accomplished the almost unprecedented feat of entering the country as a stowaway on an airplane. He was discovered in a tiny tail compartment of a senger Pan-American Airways plane when it landed here from its regular Central American run. The pilot had thought his machine tail heavy, but attributed it to a heavy express load. Kaiser stowed away at Panama City. He said he had been out of work, and. hearing of an automobile trade boom in Detroit, had decided to go there as quickly as po-ssible. He will be returned to Panama City, Here's all you have to do to win as much as SIOO in the TIMES SALES SLIP Contest: 1. Save your sales slip. 2. Write 25 words. ' 3. Send them tn ns.
