Climax of the golden anniversary of the Kroger Grocery and Baking Company was a dinner given in Cincinnati by B. H. Kroger, founder of the company, marking the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of his first store in the Ohio city. Nearly one hundred persons, who were patrons of Kroger in the first store, were his guests at the dinner. a feature of which was a large birthday cake. Kroger greeted his guests by name and declared they “helped lay the foundation stone of my success.” From the store opened in 1882 grew the chain organization which today has 4.844 stores located in nearly 1.000 communities in seventeen states

24 NURSES TO GET DIPLOMAS Commencement Program to Start With Party. Week of activities, preceding commencement program for twenty-four young women forming this year’s graduating class of the Nurses’ Bchool of the City hospital will open tonight with a theater and dinner party by the Nurses Alumnae association of the school. Bacclaureate sermon will be delivered Sunday night at the First Baptist church by the Rev. Oscar McKay. Nurses at the hospital will be hostesses for the graduates at a dinner Tuesday night at the Kopper Kettle inn. Thursday will be class day. whpn the annual ivy planting will take place on the lawn of the nurses’ home. The commencement program will be given Friday night, June 3. in the hospital auditorium. Miss Vera Wood. 17, former Shortridge high school pupil, today started a one-year probation period by order of Juvenile Judge John F. Geckler, who found her guilty of holding up eleven persons with a toy pistol. After several weeks in the hospital. Miss Wood was brought into Juvenile court Thursday afternoon and ordered to obey four probation rules. Bhe must not drink, smoke, swear or ride in an automobile with any one except members of her family during probation. The courtroom practically was empty when she appeared.
