MAN STRIPPED OF HIS CLOTHES. SOUND BY WIRE Custodian Robbed of Keys in Meridian Life Building, but Nothing Stolen. Stripped of hi* clothing and bound with wire. George Smith Jr. wa R lound by police early today on the fifth floor of the Meridian Life building, where he is employed as custodian. Nothing had been stolen, although Smith was robbed of keys to various offices. Smith said he was in the basement when he heard a noise in the upper part of the building. He took the elevator to the fifth floor a -1 found two Negroes. One drew a revolver and Smith was forced into an office, where his clothing was removed, he told police. His hands and feet were tied with picture wire. Pulling a telephone from a desk. Smith attempted to call police, but said he was unable to get a re-.-ponse. He then called his wile and she notified poiice. Russell Hamlyn. 30. Greenwood, was found hiding under a desk Thursdsv night in the office of the F.agle Machine Company. 835 East Market street, according to police called to the place by an A. D. T. alarm. He is said to have admitted that after smashing a window to gain -ntrsnee to the office he opened a safe from which he removed money contained in two bags. According to the statement, he was engaged in ransacking a desk when police entered. Police say Hamlyn was sentenced in 192 ft to a one-to-ten-vear term for burglary. Burglars obtained loot valued at M4.SO Thursdar night from two apartments. Herman Schumaker, 1638 Broadwnv Apartment 3, lost *4.50 in pennies and five $1 bills. Apartment of Rose Wright, 705 North Senate avenue, yielded a suit and a revolver, valued at $35. PLANS FOR LUTHERAN CATHEDRAL OUTLINED Speakers at Anniversary Traee History of United Church. Picture of a greater Lutheran church for Indianapolis, a cathedral which will a worthy companion to other downtown structures, was outlined Thursday night at the ninety-fifth birthday of the founding of the First United Lutheran church. Vanderbilt, was reported restint; easily today after suffering a slight .stroke of paralysis two days ago. She was attended by Dr. Edmund Gros, head of the American hospital. Mrs. Jacques Balsm, the former Consuelo Vanderbilt, and her husband were at Mrs Belmont's bedside. Her sons, William K. Vanderbilt II and Harold S. Vanderbilt, were scheduled to sail from New York Saturday.

BOYS’ CAMP OPENS AT BASS LAKE JUNE 26 Butler Athietlb Inatruetor to Be Director at Resort. The annual summer ramp for boys at Camp Grid ley on Bass lake will begin June 26. Frank Hedden, athletic instructor at Butler university, will be in charge of the camp He will b aided bv Cedric White and Ralph Moore, Butler students. Other staff members of the camp are Kenneth Campbell. Indianapolis. and Richard Woolery, Bedford. Officers of the state naval reserve will serve as advisors of the staff. Boys may enroll for two weeks’ training in the camp. City headquarters of the camp is at 1030 South New Jersey street. Regulation naval cutters will be used for navigating the lake.
