OWEN YOUNG AGAIN BOOMED FOR PRESIDENT Some Anti-Roosevelt Forces See Prince of Industry as Chief Hope. Iv r nittd l’rtf WASHINGTON, May 12.—The latest hop* of some anti-Roosevelt Democrat* is Oven D. Young. This tall, lean, smiling prince of Industry has reappeared in the Democrat!* presidential picture as the man around whom eastern Democrats may Join forces. In the middle west, some influential Democrats have been informed of a movement to make him the candidate of the SmithHaskob group which is determined to block Roosevelt. ; In New York, the leading newspapers have printed apparently Inspired reports of activity for Young among the Smith group. Several days ago word came from hi home section in upstate New York. The Little Falls Evening Times carried a significant editorial declaring that Young was a man who always had sacrificed personal considerations to what he regarded as public duty. Has Economic Program ‘ It then is reasonable to assume,” the editorial stated, “that if a clarion call came from Jus party lor him to be the standard-bearer in the next campaign, he would thrust aside his personal inclinations and accept.” Advance proofs of -this w’ere circulated. and it is regarded as an authoritative expression. Young spoke at Canton, N. Y., this week, commenting sympathetically upon the equalisation fee plans of farm relief. He was here last winter and. before a house committee, urged a half billion dollar bond issue for soldier bonus loans. He is understood to favor an economic program much in line with that just advanced by Senator Joseph T. Robinson, Senate Democratic leader. Mentioned Year Ago In other words, ail of the symptoms el a presidential candidacy are present in Young’s case. Young prominently was mentioned a year ago, but last fall he dropped entirely out of the general disrussion when he curtly checked the talk of him. Pro-Roosevelt spokesmen already are reviving the power issue against Young. Some have felt that he would be embarrassed also by the fact that the radio anti-trust suit, the biggest anti-trust prosecution in history, makes some of his companies defendants. Young has been the architectural genius of the giant Radio Corporation enterprises. He is chairman of thp board of General Electric, and director in many corporations, chiefly electrical and utility. In Wall Street Web • Because of these extensive interests, Young sits in the Wall Street financial and industrial web. In ability, his rpcord as a collaborator in the Dawes and Young reparations plans, his successful business career, his leadership in civic movements, his industrial statesmanship, an attitude toward the power, and many other issues w hich makes him seem like a liberal in comparison with his extremely conservative associates, and the /act that President, Hoover called him to assist in the Gifford unemployment commission, leave his opponents little to chew on. On prohibition, he was cautiously “for temperance” and against “hypocrisy” the last time he committed himself.

made to sppm of a* much economic importance as .those which govern cattle breeding and poultry raising, progress in this direction would be promoted,” Dr. Toombs declared. ‘ It seems unlikely that the human race can be trained to consider selective breeding at the time when such consideration would be most desirable, but something can be done," he added. The family physician is the best person to do this training, he said. Some of the measures he advocated are attention to diet and posture to improve the physical structure of the child, and immediate care of the expectant mother. Prevention of rickets, for instance, which causes deformities of the bones, would reduce the number
