PLOT TO GRAB OIL MARKET IS LAID TO SOVIET Royal Dutch Head Says Effort Is Being Made to Crush Him. My f nitrd Pres* LONDON, April 22.—A Soviet attempt to smash the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company and capture the oil markets of the world was charged today by Sir Henri Deterding, director-general of the Royal Dutch and a director of the Shell Transport and Trading Company. Sir Henri said the rapid slump of Royal Dutch shares on the stock exchange recently, and reports Thursday that the annual dividend would be reduced greatly or passed entirely, “were solely due to bear attacks on me and my companies.’’ The oil magnate denied that he * aß in any way connected with the Kreuger and Toll interests, now

When Paris police arrested Mme. Marthe Hanau recently for publishing ‘a document stolen from the desk of the finance minister, she was accused of publishing sensational and false reports that Sir Henri Deterding “mysteriously had disappeared.” Stale Forests, Million Acres By United Pres* | HARRISBURG, Pa., April 22 The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania purchased 116,400 acres of forest land in twenty-seven counties during 1931, The purchases brought the total acreage to 1,545,543.
