Department Club Renews Its Activities Meetings of the art and litera-ture-drama departments of the Women's Department Club are scheduled for the coming week following a week of inactivity at the clubhouse. The general club will be entertained at 2 Wednesday by the literature drama group when Mrs. Demarchus Brown will speak on "The Search for Righteousness—Thomas Carlyle.” Miss Virginia Harbaugh, pianist, wil give a musical program. Mrs. Harley W. Rhudehamel, chairman, will preside at the business meeting preceding the entertainment. Prizes to Be Awarded At this time prizes for winners of the poetry contest, conducted by the department, will be awarded by Mrs. Everett M. Schofield, president. Miss Emma B. King is winner in the club member contest, and Edward Hiese of Washington high school, in the high school group. Judges were Mrs. Schofield, Mrs. Carl A. Taylor and Mrs. J. F. Edwards. Mrs. Walter S. Grow is chairman of the tea to follow the program. The tea table will be centered with a bowl of tulips and Mrs. R. O. McAlcxander, president-elect of the club, and Mrs. J. F. Edwards, chairman of literature in the Indiana Federation of Clubs, will pour. Drama Class to Meet Assisting Mrs. Grow in the dining room will be Mesdames Oscar Bauer, Alvin T. Coate, George M. Cornelius, James D. Ermston, John Downing Johnson, Hezie B. Pike, O. L. Watkins, and Miss Ethel R. Curryer. The drama class, conducted by Mrs. Shideler Harpe, will meet at 1 preceding the regular meeting. Reviews will be given cf "Lonesome Road ” (Paul Green); "The Show Off” (George Kelly), and “Beggar on Horseback” (George Kaufman and Marc Connelly.) The art department will hold its last meeting of the year Monday. Annual reports of officers and chairman will be made at the business session which will convene at 2, with Mrs. W. D. Hamer, chairman, presiding. A tour to the homes of art collectors will follow the business meeting. Homes of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Calvert and Mr. and Mrs. Booth Tarkinton are included. Mrs. John Engel :e is chairman of transportation, and members driving are asked to notify her of extra space in cars. The tour will start from the club house at 2:45. Members will be asked to present membership cards. The "Pleasure from Paintings” group will meet at 1 at the clubhouse, when Miss Josephine Binninger will review “Modern Paintings” by Willard H. Wright and "Mural Paintings” by Edwin H. Blashfield. The 10 o’clock will meet Wednesday morning at the home of Mrs. H. B. Burnet, 4417 North Pennsylvania street. Paintings by Joe Henninger and water colors by Miss Fmninger will be exhibited at the clubhouse during April. The city hospital committee of the community welfare department will entertain with a bridge party at 2 Friday in the tearoom of the clubhouse. Proceeds will be used to carry on the work of the committee in assisting student nurses. Mrs. Merritt Woolf is in charge of the party, assisted by members of the committee. Mrs. Louis A. Floury is chairman.

Mrs. Ethel Hayward to Visit Mu Phi Epsilon Sorority

Mrs. Ethel Hayward, east central province president, will be the guest of the Indianapolis Alumnae club of Mu Phi Epsilon national honorary musical sorority at its monthly meeting Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Walter Judd, 325 Berkely road. Luncheon will be served at 12:30 with the hostess assisted by Mrs. D. E. Bloodgood and Mrs. Walter Hiatt. Mrs. Diddel to Speak Before Church Group Mrs. Mahlon E. Bash has arranged the program for April meeting of the Women's Association of the Irvington Methodist Episcopal church Thursday night. Mrs. Glenn Diddel will speak dn “A New England Mamasita in Yucatan.” She will be assisted by Miss Adelaide Conte of the Irvington School of Music in a group of Spanish songs, accompanied by Mrs. Mildred Smith. Mrs. Diddel was born in Yucatan and spent her childhood within the shadow of the ruins of ChichenItza, city of antiquity, where her father, Edward H. Thompson, archeologist, was engaged in study and research. Mrs. Diddel’s talk will concern personal experiences of her mother, known as “Mamasita,” “the little mother,” among the Mayas in the jungles of Yucatan.

Irvington Community Chorus to Open Season With ‘Elijah’

Miss Lynn and A.C. Zweck Are Wed in Church The marriage of Miss Jennie Coulson Lynn, 519 Central court, to Alfred C. Zweck, took place at 9 this morning in the rectory of S3. Peter and Paul cathedral with the Rev. G. E. Dunn officiating. The bride is the daughter of Orville Lynn, Trenton, N, J. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Strickland. Mrs. Strickland wore a blue crepe frock trimmed in white with matching accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Mrs. Zweck wore a beige Schiaparelli crepe ensemble trimmed in maching ermine and bronze accessories. Her corsage was of sunkist roses and violets. Following a wedding breakfast at the Marott, Mr. and Mrs. Zweck left for a short honeymoon. They will be at home at 1311 West Fifth street, Sioux City, la. The bride attended Indiana university and is a member of Tri Kappa sorority. Mr. Zweck is a graduate of Notre Dame and attended the University of Wisconsin.

The chorus presented Handel’s “Messiah” as its winter program before Christmas, and with the offering of this second oratorio the sponsors of the organization will have realized their original purpose of presenting two yearly concerts. Council to Elect Five Directors Five directors of the Indianapolis Council of Women will be elected Tuesday at a meeting at the Irvington Methodist church, to serve a period of three years. Directors whose terms have expired are Mrs. Frank A. Symmes, Mrs. A. B. Glick, Mrs. Curtis Hodges, Mrs. Albert Pauley and Mrs. Alex Goodwin. Os these five, Mrs. Pauley and Mrs. Goodwin are eligible for re-election. Nominations will be made from the floor at 2 and election will be by ballot. Directors may not make nominations. Each organization affiliated with the council is entitled to two votes. The luncheon speaker will be Judge Frank P. Baker, whose subject vi.ll be. “Thoughts of a Judge.” Music will be by Miss Alice Arnold, contralto, accompanied by Miss Freda Hart, whose program will include “Gloria” (Buzze-Peecio); “Sylvia” (Speaks), and “Pale Moon” (Logan). He is sent from the Baha’i National Assembly, and is being presented by the local chapter of the organization. Bridge Stars to Compete in Tourney Featuring club team and pair championships, the sixth annual national inter-club bridge tournament sponsored by the Indianapolis Athletic Club will open at 1:45 Thursday with play for the Adams trophy won last year by the Cleveland Whist Club, whose representatives will compete again this year. The team of four championship for the P. C. Reilly cup will be played the opening day at the evening session beginning at 7:45. Professional Club to Have Annual Frolic Annual glee club frolic of the Indianapolis Business and Professional Women’s Club will be held at 8 Thursday at the Woman's Department Club house. “The Old-Fashioned Singing School,’* written and directed by Mrs. Camille B. Osborn president, will preside. MINSTREL SHOW PLANS PREPARED A minstrel show will be presented by Daughters of Isabella May 8 in Cathedral high school auditorium. The performance which will be directed by Charles B. Lines will include a chorus of 150 voices. End-men will be William Shine, Eddie Krueger, Joe McCurdy, John Lemereaux, Thomas Needhammer and Joe Swallow. The interlocutor will be announced later. Members of the organization will assist with ballad and dance numbers. Lines is being assisted by the Rev. August Fussenegger, and Mrs. Joe J. Speaks is general chairman of arrangements. D. OF U. WILL BE LUNCHEON GUESTS Mrs. George M. Spiegel will entertain the Governor Oliver Perry chapter, National Society, Daughters of the Union, at a buffet luncheon at 12:30 Monday at her home, 2220 North Alabama street. Mrs. Sipegel wil be assisted by Mrs. Thomas Larkin and Mrs. Allen T. Fleming. During luncheon, a musical program will be given by Mrs, John M.
