COUNTY LOSES ‘MEANEST MAN' DIVORCE CASE ‘Unfair Trial’ Likely Here, Judge Rules, Granting Change in Venue. Right to try the divorce suit of a citizen labeled its “meanest white man." Thursday was lost by Marion county after Superior Judge John W. Kern ruled his home county would be unfair to him. The unusual pseudonym said to have been given Judge Slonehouse, 2027 West Michigan street, by a police court .judge a year ago, was used today by his wife in a crosscomplaint to the divorce petition. Stonehouse, husky laborer, argued for a change of venue before Kern. Kern ruled the case will be tried in Hamilton county. When tried a year ago, for beating his eldest daughter, Mildred, Stonehouse was described as “Marion county’s meanest white man’’ by Paul E. Wetter, former municipal judge, the wife's cross-complaint stated. "Mean Deeds” are Listed Wetter placed him on probation. Acts of Stonehouse, the wife alleges, were, unbecoming a true mate. She charges they included: Spitting on a rug, bought by Mildred; wiping his dirty hands on new lace curtains, cutting wires to the ; radio, never taking a bath, and putting his family of five children in fear. Objections to his children attending Sunday school were made by Stonehouse, the wife alleged. Moreover, the complaint charged, Stonehouse has not spoken to his eldest daughter for two years and, at one time, tried to have his wife declared insane. Alleges Wife Is Cruel In his complaint, Stonehouse al- j leged his wife, Dora, was the one who had been "cruel'and inhuman.” She continuously quarreled, would not perform her house, work and struck him with a milk bottle, he charged. Stonehouse also is asking custody of his three minor children, Sidney, 15. Frances, 12, and Dorothy 8. Mrs. Stonehouse, howevrr, wants >2,000 alimony and $75 monthly for support and custody of the children. MILL GETS BIG ORDER Walnut Logs Hauled for Miles to Re Sawed for Chlrago Building.
