The funeral will be conducted by Rabbi Milton Steinberg at 11:30 Tuesday morning at the Flanner &; Buchanan mortuary. Burial will be in the Hebrew Congregation cemetery. UTILITIES CONTROL IS URGED BY WEISS
House Member, in Race for State Senate Seat, Cites Program. A three-point utility control platform was outlined by Jacob Weiss, Indianapolis attorned today, when he announced for the Democratic j v nomination for state senator. Weiss, who is a state representative from Marion county, declared that in order to prevent continued : gouging of consumers by public utilities, the public service commission law should be strengthened. He said the commission should be granted authority over holding companies and statutes liberalized to make it easier for municipalities to own and operate utilities. Asa member of the house of representatives during the 1931 session, Weiss leu in the fight to strengthen the public service commission act in order to provide for better control of the utility companies and aided in calling attention to the irregularities in the passage of House Bill 6. He wrote and introduced the bill, which passed under suspension of the rules, giving delinquent taxpayers a one-year moratorium and also fathered measures to reduce governmental expenses through consolidation of townships. Actively concerned in social legislation. Weiss rewrote and led in the fight for passage of the measure ROBINSON TO SUPPORT PUBLIC UTILITIES CURB Johnson Bill Requires Appeal to State, Rather Than U. S. Court. Support of the Johnson bill before the United States senate, which would require public utilities to take appeals from public service commission decisions to state, rather than federal, courts, has been pledged by Senator Arthur R. Robinson. Indiana commission members said today. Robinson’s stand was revealed in a telegram to the commission Saturday after commissioners advocating its passage in a wired support plea last week ot the senate judiciary committee, of which Robinson is a member. Indiana commissioners supporting the measure are Frank Singleton, Howell Ellis and Harry K. Cuthbertson, with Commissioners John W. McCardle and Jere West refusing to join.
